So what are your thoughts on Asian food, plated Western-style?

Obviously, most if not all mod-Asian restaurants serve food this way and generally, I have no problem with it. In fact, it often appears rather beautiful and refined. The one thing that does annoy me to no end, however, is whenver I see noodle soups (of any kind) served in anything other than a deep bowl!

It especially ticks me off seeing the rather sad soup meekly floating in a plate!

I really loath it. The asian way is far more interactive , sociable and generous in spirit. I very much prefer western food served from communal dishes at the table too, rather than 'plated'.

It depends on who my dining companions are. If they are people I know and often eat with, communal serving dishes are fine. But if I don't know them, and especially if it's a large group, I prefer western-style plating.
