The squeeky sound/feel of fresh baby artichokes, the occasional blorp from a pot of tomato sauce simmering gently.

My 2 years old son banging pots and pans together?

You could always do what my parents did and buy him a set of drums... of course, then you'd have to put up with hearing him bang on them for the next 15 years, whereas he'll probably grow out of the pots and pans thing well before then.

The rhythmical sound that my mother used to make while cutting vegetables like daikon with a nakiri or something to make miso soup for breakfast. Memories of childhood.

I also really love the squeaky noise you hear just in your jaw and inner ears when you're eating fresh cheese curds!

Another one: the ksssh, ksssh, ksssh sound of the pressure cooker - pot roast is almost ready. Always coincided with the music from The Wonderful World of Disney.

The smoke alarm telling me that dinner is ready.

That made me laugh out loud.

Ditto!! and sooooo true!

For me, the orchestra of a professional kitchen. No talking, pans hitting the flat-top, spoons clinking on plates, the "poof" when a gas flame starts. I LOVE it all. Makes my life in a kitchen so great even on the worst days.

My father saying to my mother (aka his sous chef), "We've been married for how long and you still don't remember that the [insert ingredient here] is cut like [insert cutting size here] for [insert Thai dish here]?" And then they'd laugh.

I agree that is one of the best sounds. Where do you work if you don't mind me asking?
