  1. Find a bulk spice seller either localy or online and buy the smallest amount they sell. Go in with a couple of people and split a package or maybe work some trades. Krogers, Ralphs and food-4-Less sell small packs of herbs and spoces for reasonable amounts. I am sure others do to.

    Hiring a chef

    Especialy in that part of the world; a red flag if ever there was one. When I see what some "headhunters" and placement firms charege for placement it makes my head spin. Epecialy when one of the reps calls offering me an asingment and I have already seen it in the paper. The good Dr. said "If you don't pay you don't get better." and another dude pointed out you often get what you pay for.
  3. It is too simplistic and child like as a food choice in the eyes of most people. I hardly use it for anything but a easy seafood dip base.
  4. I don't make any personal judgments on people like that or ones that want mayo on corned beef, I feel sorry for them... Another thing they don,t have in Chicago is the Italian Hotdog. At least I can do that with local stuff. It seems to be cheaper to take a day trip to NY to get Pork roll, Sabrett dogs and oinion dressing along with a few other missed things than have it shipped. Most of the companies that offer to ship charge larger premiums for the product.

  8. The reson for that is so that the checker does not hurt themselves. I guess the part about walking to a better posstion to do this would draw fire. Some of this is covered in the job discription as well as Union contracts.

    It sounds like you are being forced out in a way that would keep them from having to pay unemployment funds. As in the clever wording in most states laws if you "quit" you are not entitled to unemployment. In IL you could quit such an arangement ans still collect as they have rules that cover downgrades in pay. You also may want to check into the Min. wage laws of your state. They my have to make up the differance between your commision and Federal Min. For this reason a lot of busineses do not opt for such an arrangement. I would start to look into wrongful discharge laws in your state.

  12. Paying more for water than for gas is a bit extreame for filtered tap water. Especialy since you can do the same thing with a filter that costs less than $50.00.
  13. That is exactly what I was going to say. Freeze it wrap it in layers of news print and thos annoying bags from the store and you should be good for a few hours.
  14. If you know the volume of the pan that is supposed to be used you can extrapalate the volume of batter. You may need to adjust time or liquids as larger thin pans cook quicker. I know from the past that a recipe for two 8" round cakes makes one good whole sheet if that is of any help.
  15. The mold is an aspergillums variant according to a major producers web sit. It is highly toxic to parrots and some farm animals. The spores can survive extremes of cold and heat. Not something I would be playing with in my home.
  16. A lot of cases are custom made too. You may want to look into that aspect or used equipment.

    Ihave cooked them in the broiler and on the grill as well as pan fry.
  19. I keep a bottle of Malt for such things esp. if I am makeing them fresh.I cringe when I see people drown good food with something as foul as ketchup as it robs food of heat anf flavor. I half expect to see a new fad of doing ketchup shooters.

  22. Since 1969 as I remember the kit contained the crisp veg. in the small can and the meat, hard cooked veg and sauce in the large. The noodles where sold in a seperate can and in a bag.

  24. It sounds like you are expecting too much for too little in return. plenty of places want you to take accurate orders, deliver product quickly, be friendly and keep accurate bank. If you happen to know about drinks and spirits it helps from a personal selling point as being better than an order taker. Anything over knowing the drink specials and draft beers is good. As the law in this state provides for training is a paid event and most people know that. What incentive other than a job do you offer as most places could care less about the depth of a servers knowlage? I am not trying to be a jerk but from what you posted it sounds like you expect more than what you are willing to pay for.
  25. What are your expectations of them on the job and what are you offering for compansation. The start as X and we will permote you to Z is a worn out ploy in this market and most people get hinkey over it.
