    Dinner 2023

A chilly and somewhat gloomy day yesterday prompted me to pull together a lovely vegetable beef soup. A chunk of beef chuck eye, russets, zucchini, carrots, celery, cabbage, green beans, onion, beef broth , can of tomatoes, and seasonings that included a pinch of MSG, HP sauce, parsley and the other usual suspects. Served with homemade Texas Roadhouse dinner rolls. It's no wonder that I always make w-a-y more soup than I intend.
  2. No updates on the rotisserie yet?

    Oysters: The Topic

I'm not much for oysters but I'd go for that martini.

    Dinner 2023

My town's Catholic Church used to have a St. Pat's dinner ever year except during the Pandemic. The Knights of Columbus did all the preparations and the Corned Beef was amazingly goo...far better than any I'd ever had. Two years ago the the Diocese decided that all the proceeds should bo to them and not to the church whose members provided everything. So last year the church decided that was enough. Now there's no more big dinner that brough in lots of money for the small church in a small town. So now everyone loses. Another sign of the times.
  5. Do you have a planned time to begin your return trip or do you base that decision on the MN weather?

I am SO making that cabbage!
  9. It's nearly time for cold brew. Anyone here have a cold brew maker they really like? I require enabling.
  10. I use one of these. I like it very much although it does require a wash between uses. Theere is also a smaller size available.
  11. Could you save your empty screw-top wine bottles? I use those for my eggnog.
  12. No expert either but that'd be my guess.

    Dinner 2023

I once made this with Ina Garten's recipe; I believe it was the best meal I have ever made. Labor intensive, thogh.
  14. It's almost time for Bangers and Mash!! My friend tells me that Costco has actual bangers in stock. I use Johnsonville Irish O'garlic sausages that are really good. It's about time for Irish Stew as well!
  15. New Ooni Volt. Seen it yet?

    Lunch 2023

Yesterday I had lunch again at my favorite restaurant in nearby Hamilton. Authentic Thai food! So good. I ordered Pad See Ew with shrimp. Amazing. I'm going to try to replicate it although without the Thai Chilis and Holy Basil that are not available here. I did get the real Pan Mee noodles however. I'm betting it will be good. Recipe here.

    Breakfast 2023

Not only are your dishes spectacular r but so are your photos.
  18. Have you tried Bisto? hey make delicious gravy granules in different flavors. I used the beef with my meatloaf and the chicken with Stove Top. From Amazon, imported from the UK. Tastes like the real thing. As to the turkey, ,y friend turned me on to turkey tenderloins...roasted in the oven, they are delicious.
  19. I can't wait to hear about it!
  20. I wouldn't worry...the rotiss is well made and has simple parts. As long as it's made by Phillips it will be good.
  21. The whole grill or just the rotisserie? Pretty much everything can go in the d/w although the grill base is rather big. But everything fits. Since I no longer have an outside grill it's nice to have.
  22. To be honest, I haven't used it more than a few times. I do like it but have sort of forgotten about it since I moved. Will definitely dig it out one of these days and give it a spin (no pun intended) again soon. For $50 I'd say go for it.
