Panzanella salad (croutons from home made bread). Swordfish, asparagus, tartar sauce
  6. A 10 inch chef knife and Edgemaker pro knife sharpener 1 dollar each at the thrift shop. Knife became razor sharp after a few passes through the sharpener
  7. I bought this one fresh at Whole Foods, it was significantly cheaper than halibut filet and (to me) much more interesting.
  8. Halibut cheek steam baked at 300 for 20 minutes. Not much to look at but little morsels of the fish were super tender and delicious. As a bonus, I made about a cup of very flavorful fish fume wit bones and cartilage.
  9. @Anna N Frittata sandwich is a brilliant idea. I am usually left with one small wedge of frittata when I make one for breakfast. DH eats half and I can never finish mine.
  10. No price yet. And it is not listed on Amazon. I am not very good at baking bread but I WANT this book.
  11. Roasted marrow bones with parsley salad and toast (not shown).
  12. Thank you, should have looked closer.
  13. Just read about it today. Their video shows an egg sliding in the skillet while being fried. I do have a few old cast iron skillets but willing to give this one a try when it is available. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/field-company/the-field-skillet-lighter-smoother-cast-iron
  14. Will there be a Kindle version of your book? I like having access to MANY cookbooks no matter where I am. My bookcases don't travel as easily as my iPad;)
  15. Home made hash (the last of sous vide corn beef) with scrambled egg for DH. Mine had easy over egg but I ate it before photo was taken.
  16. Seattle Coffee Gear has refurbished espresso machines on sale. Additional 15% off with coupon HOTDEALS. https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/on-sale/refurbished?mc_cid=069a6e9d0a&mc_eid=a2a2612338&p=1&utm_campaign=069a6e9d0a-2016_03_25_Save_15_On_Refurbished_Machin3_24_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Seattle+Coffee+Gear&utm_term=0_454d042d9a-069a6e9d0a-121778605
  17. Congee made with pork stock and little bits of left over pork. Bright red streak is Lao Gan Ma, Chinese chili sauce.
  18. Seared scallops with lightly sautéed arugula
  19. It's now on Amazon! cover is gorgeous
  20. Shellfish takes minutes to cook. You can quickly saute shrimp or saute scallops and bring that to the table. Especially if you have side dish ready and warm.
  21. Very pleasant meal kinda spread throughout the day. Blue cheese stuffed dates for a snack Arugula and blood orange salad Cosmo for me and Camapri on the rocks for DH Slow roasted duck with roasted purple carrots
  22. Report: 53% of women say they would break up with significant other if no Valentine’s Day gift This is quote the discuss ad nausea on WTOP. I am with Anna N on enjoying yourself and appreciating your partner. I got me a vintage cast iron skillet and told DH that it was my V day gift. He seemed to be very relieved about it. Many happy meals will come out of that skillet.
  23. Phillip is young and rather successful for his age. I admit that the way he was portrayed on Top Chef is not very appealing. Not sure how much of that is editing and how much is real Phillip. My son is 28 and often very arrogant (for no good reason). I am not sad to see him go though. Glad Kwame got to stay. He and Marjorie are my favorites. I think Marjorie is more consistent and versatile. Making deserts and not being eliminated on Top Chef is a major achievement. No excuse for water in risotto. My husband does not cook. At all. Barely able to heat things in microwave. His question: Honey, don't you use stock in risotto?
  24. Just found this on in a thrift shop! Bought spoon rest, bamboo skewers, and this beauty (looks brand new) for 2.39. OK, 2.40 since I left a penny behind in case someone needs it.
  25. I usually completely omit or drastically reduce the amount of sugar in savory recipes since it is the way I prefer it. Agree that red cabbage and apples combo is sweet enough on its own. Also, do you think something like sherry vinegar instead of wine?
