  1. They aren't messin' around. All the wheat is at the Coop ready for us to sell and they are planting soybeans as we speak
  2. All done! It used to take half a day at least. Now it takes like 3 1/2 hours. Amazing.
  3. Happening now
  4. I should go out and do that but the wheat dust is O M G killing me even inside.... I did post pics somewhere around here years ago. I'll try to find them. This is the first year we have two combines going at the same time so it's a lot faster than normal. The farmers--as you guys know--are Mennonites. Just the nicest people. We have a great relationship. When they harvest they pile a ton of their kids in the cab of the combine (now air conditioned). SO cute. One of my favorite times of year.
  5. Started harvesting our wheat a couple of hours ago!!!! Even after all these years I love it. Kansas proud

After reading your question and asking Ronnie, we think that could be the reason. It was HOT outside the day he smoked it.

  9. All good, as usual. I keep trying to find iced coffee that I like. Haven't tasted this yet....suspect that I don't care for oat milk but we will see. Why did I buy two???????? 'Cause I'm an idiot lol.

    Dinner 2022

Happy Father's Day to all! A few from last week: Ronnie cold smoked a turkey breast and then I SV'd it--like I've done a million times. Wanted it because we picked our first two garden tomatoes (never super good, but light years better than grocery store ones). That turkey turned out so dry and I can't fathom why. Win some/lose some I guess. ramen noodle salad and fries to go with The rest of the homemade pasta with my sauce and Italian sausage Pizza and salad night--Italian sausage, jalapeño, mushroom and onion Breakfast for dinner with the last of these sausages that I love. Roasted chicken with the last of the garden asparagus And last night for Ronnie since it's Father's Day weekend Chicken fried venison steaks, gravy, taters, and @JAZ's honey mustard sprouts
  11. I, too, always wondered where you ended up. Good to see ya!

They had a guide ...or maybe more than one guide...so they cleaned them. Part of the perk of going with one lol.

Oh yeah, I put about 7 -10 filets in and vac packed them.
  14. Ronnie went out and picked mulberries for me yesterday (it's in the midst of poison ivy so that's a no no for me). Put a tarp on the trailer and just shook 'em all down. Said it worked like a charm. Took me 3 hours to de-stem....come to find out I could have cooked them in a pie with the stems and it would have been just fine lol. My fingers are very purple. Mulberry pie is super good.

Beautiful pizzas as usual @Duvel @DejahNow I want rhubarb pie. Gorgeous. Had some leftover chicken so I made enchiladas I've been craving oxtail ragu and oddly Ronnie found some in the freezer that I had forgotten about. So, I dusted off the pasta maker. Salad to go with Ronnie went out of town fishing and got back on Thursday evening. I made venison meatloaf because it could keep warmish in the oven while he got here and settled in. OH and I picked the first cucumbers from the garden. Still getting some asparagus from the garden, too. The next day Ronnie trimmed up the fish they caught. LOTS of white bass and crappie. Of course then I had to fry some of that wonderful crappie Night before last was Asian-ish Pork belly Salad Made a bunch of egg roll for the freezer Along with some potstickers Last night more enchiladas...pork this time...and a big bowl of crappie ceviche to go with Ronnie picked me a whole huge bucket of of mulberries ...so pie for dessert!

Ohhhhh!!! I have to make the onions....that is such an amazing idea. Thank you!
  17. I LOVE POUND CAKE!!!!! I have a memory....we had just moved to Colorado and were in this cabin....house...thing...lol. It was cold and I was just unsettled. Grammy and Grandpa came with us to help. She laid out a Sarah Lee pound cake. I LOVED it. I don't remember if there were toppings...I'm sure there were....but man, that cake was good.
  18. It varies....but probably around 6 to 8. It's fun to dig them up...like Easter egg hunting.
  19. I can only get Misfits. I'd still do both if I could.....Imperfect quit delivering to my area.
  20. Wow. I love rhubarb. 200 lbs????? And more to come I assume. I've tried to grow it here. It just doesn't work.
  21. What is it?
  22. Cool. So I could pick the green tomato things and just keep them in the fridge until next spring?
  23. They say that if you pick the flowers off, the potatoes will be bigger....I'm not sure about that. After they flower they sometimes produce a green ....kind of a green tomato looking thing--not edible. I'll try to remember to take a picture. The flowers don't last long so I'm not sure anything pollinates them at all.......You dig the potatoes after the plants start to die off.
