Oh for sure!!! Ronnie loves it with both beans and meat. I just really love the cheese and pepper so mine is vegetarian usually lol.
  2. That looks heavenly.

It's embarrassingly easy lol. You could make it more elaborate if you wanted. If you have homemade enchilada sauce then, of course, use that but I find I'm happy with a doctored up can of it from the store--I usually crush up a beef bouillon cube in a skillet, add the sauce and then add more spices and then heat up. Broil the peppers (I do it in the CSO on steam broil--500F for 10 mins on each side). Cool and peel. Cut a slit. Stuff with sharp cheddar and beans. Cover with sauce. Heat at 350F until bubbly.
  5. I grew tried to grow peas for a lot of years. I love 'em too. SO good just raw out of the garden, but they didn't do well here, either. I was lucky to get a handful out of the whole thing lol.
  6. Before I scrolled down I picked what I would have had--belly clams and oysters to start and then the dish your husband picked YUM.
  7. Thank you! Yes, straw hopefully helps with moisture--it's been so freaking windy that I hope it stays. Also, it helps deter weeds somewhat. We used to do newspaper under the straw, but we don't get newspapers anymore..... I don't do any fertilizer at all. Haven't in all the years I've had them. I think I planted a couple years after we moved here so they are probably 20 years old??? I had a lot more that died off within the first couple years. I had planted them in some very root filled soil and they couldn't compete. My mom used to work at a peony farm so I guess it's just instilled in me to love them . She would go sucker bud (dead head) and it would take a reallllly long time in that field. Anyway, yes, I pick off all of the buds except the main one--I go out every day to get any strays that I've missed. Makes for beautiful big flowers. That sucks. I didn't cover mine earlier this spring and I was scared but they made it ok.
  8. Thank you so much! Hopefully it grows lol. Got the straw put down around the tomato plants today. I'm so stiff I can hardly move. I need a shower, I stink lol. One of my peony bushes finally bloomed. I don't think I've ever gotten so many from one plant.

Behind on posting...been in the garden a lot. Volunteer cilantro is really pretty right now. Have to enjoy it before it gets hot and bolts. Also wanted to use my cute cat dishes again So, Asian salad, potstickers and egg rolls Asparagus, fries and turkey sandwiches Shrimp Alfredo with salad and spinach Fruit salad and breakfast for dinner Tacos, beans and stuffed peppers last night
  10. I'm having major oyster envy.
  11. The only thing we had to buy this year (grown plant-wise) was the pepper plants--8 shishito and 6 jalapeños. $70!!!! I told Ronnie we need to figure out why we never can grow peppers in the greenhouse.
  12. I'm seriously sore right now.
  13. No but we probably should. A lot of farmers around here do that.
  14. Yeah, I'm proud of him! He's been non-stop in his little greenhouse since like the end of January.
  15. Finished getting everything in the ground today. 100 seeds of Nirvana corn Long rows of beans Radishes Lettuce (need to plant more of that in a week or so) Okra 55 tomato plants (raised by Ronnie) Squash/zucchini (raised by Ronnie) Melons (raised by Ronnie) Yukon Gold potatoes Russet potatoes 300 onion sets --white, red and yellow Cucumbers (raised by Ronnie) Shishito peppers Jalapeno peppers Here is the main garden. Didn't take pics of the other two but I will. Not a ton showing yet, but I weeded everything so I took pictures while it was still pretty lol. Been eating asparagus almost every day. Not sick of it yet.
  16. Oooooh pretty shiny pans! Thank GOODNESS. I thought I was going to be shown something that I had to buy LOL.
  17. That sounds really good. Oxtail used to be a cheap thing that I could get around here....not anymore. Last time at the store it was like $17 for a total of four puny tails. I miss getting oxtail.
  18. Beautiful!!! Look at those empty cabinets. Sigh. That hasn't happened around here ever lol.
  19. WOW!!!! That looks amazing and so easy (ish) when using the Ninja. I need to get my butt in gear and do the seafood one I mentioned.
  20. I ordered some of that hot sauce, too. Not the verde but the other one. I hope it's realllllly hot to satisfy Ronnie's wants. Most aren't hot enough for him. Very excited to hear of the search function. I've long wanted them to have one. I'll have to go check it out.
  21. I'm not going to price my pics every time just because it's a PITA to look it up lol. This order I got on Friday was $132.44. Most expensive item was the pecans--needed them for my Derby Pie--at $9.75 which is right around the grocery store price 'cause I looked on Thursday when I was there. I can also tell you that I spent $100 at Dillon's and came home with far less lol.
  22. Yeah that was AWESOME! I'm so happy for all of the connections. I read today that the jockey made like $900 riding on Friday at Belterra in OH--he came in third. Then, the next day, never having ridden at CHD, he wins the derby and makes like $1.8 million dollars on that ride. SO cool. The hot browns were a triumph! I started in the middle of the afternoon piddling around the kitchen. There is so much time in-between losing large amounts of money the races that it worked perfect to shred up all the cheese (while I had the food processor out I did a lot more than I needed just to have it done) etc. I roasted a half a turkey breast in the CSO using the steam bake setting at 350F for about an hour. I pulled it at internal temp 160F. really juicy Made the cheese sauce (I kind of combined these two recipes...having never had one before, we don't know the difference if it was authentic or not lol) Fried the bacon...toasted and cut the bread etc. and then broiled in the oven until the cheese was bubbly. I made the pie that I cannot call Derby Pie for dessert

    Dinner 2022

So much good food happening. Once again I've resolved to get a passport and move in with @Duvel. @Norm Matthewsmaybe I'll just come visit you and your wonderful looking spread I had some leftover hollandaise sauce so did that with garden asparagus and spaghetti with Italian sausages Tacos, stuffed peppers and RG beans for Cinco De Mayo \\ Caesar salad from a bag mix (it was ok....not as good as homemade dressing) and Canadian bacon and pepperoni pizza And for Derby Day!!! We thawed out a turkey and vac packed all of it except half of the breast. I did it in the CSO on steam bake at 350F for about an hour. Pulled it at 160F internal temp. SO juicy and good. So I could make Hot Browns. Definitely doing this again. We really liked them. And the pie that I cannot call Derby Pie because I'm not supposed to lol for dessert.
