    Dinner 2022

Happy Father's Day to all! A few from last week: Ronnie cold smoked a turkey breast and then I SV'd it--like I've done a million times. Wanted it because we picked our first two garden tomatoes (never super good, but light years better than grocery store ones). That turkey turned out so dry and I can't fathom why. Win some/lose some I guess. ramen noodle salad and fries to go with The rest of the homemade pasta with my sauce and Italian sausage Pizza and salad night--Italian sausage, jalapeño, mushroom and onion Breakfast for dinner with the last of these sausages that I love. Roasted chicken with the last of the garden asparagus And last night for Ronnie since it's Father's Day weekend Chicken fried venison steaks, gravy, taters, and @JAZ's honey mustard sprouts
  4. I, too, always wondered where you ended up. Good to see ya!

They had a guide ...or maybe more than one guide...so they cleaned them. Part of the perk of going with one lol.

Oh yeah, I put about 7 -10 filets in and vac packed them.
  7. Ronnie went out and picked mulberries for me yesterday (it's in the midst of poison ivy so that's a no no for me). Put a tarp on the trailer and just shook 'em all down. Said it worked like a charm. Took me 3 hours to de-stem....come to find out I could have cooked them in a pie with the stems and it would have been just fine lol. My fingers are very purple. Mulberry pie is super good.

Beautiful pizzas as usual @Duvel @DejahNow I want rhubarb pie. Gorgeous. Had some leftover chicken so I made enchiladas I've been craving oxtail ragu and oddly Ronnie found some in the freezer that I had forgotten about. So, I dusted off the pasta maker. Salad to go with Ronnie went out of town fishing and got back on Thursday evening. I made venison meatloaf because it could keep warmish in the oven while he got here and settled in. OH and I picked the first cucumbers from the garden. Still getting some asparagus from the garden, too. The next day Ronnie trimmed up the fish they caught. LOTS of white bass and crappie. Of course then I had to fry some of that wonderful crappie Night before last was Asian-ish Pork belly Salad Made a bunch of egg roll for the freezer Along with some potstickers Last night more enchiladas...pork this time...and a big bowl of crappie ceviche to go with Ronnie picked me a whole huge bucket of of mulberries ...so pie for dessert!

Ohhhhh!!! I have to make the onions....that is such an amazing idea. Thank you!
  10. I LOVE POUND CAKE!!!!! I have a memory....we had just moved to Colorado and were in this cabin....house...thing...lol. It was cold and I was just unsettled. Grammy and Grandpa came with us to help. She laid out a Sarah Lee pound cake. I LOVED it. I don't remember if there were toppings...I'm sure there were....but man, that cake was good.
  11. It varies....but probably around 6 to 8. It's fun to dig them up...like Easter egg hunting.
  12. I can only get Misfits. I'd still do both if I could.....Imperfect quit delivering to my area.
  13. Wow. I love rhubarb. 200 lbs????? And more to come I assume. I've tried to grow it here. It just doesn't work.
  14. What is it?
  15. Cool. So I could pick the green tomato things and just keep them in the fridge until next spring?
  16. They say that if you pick the flowers off, the potatoes will be bigger....I'm not sure about that. After they flower they sometimes produce a green ....kind of a green tomato looking thing--not edible. I'll try to remember to take a picture. The flowers don't last long so I'm not sure anything pollinates them at all.......You dig the potatoes after the plants start to die off.
  17. I barely managed to keep my mouth shut. She also had the whole family over for dinner while we were gone. I didn't even host huge family dinners. She did, years later, admit to Ronnie that she probably shouldn't have done all that lol.
  18. Couldn't resist taking a picture of the potato plants. The flowers are so pretty.
  19. Last weeks: The soups were 2 for 99 cents. I couldn't resist. Ronnie will eat these for lunches in his man-garage. The little pickles are good. Yesterday: I cut up the peppers and vac packed them. They are handy to pull from the freezer. Coleslaw will be used to make egg rolls soon.
  20. Years ago we went out of town and my mother and father in law came to house sit. She decided that my kitchen "wasn't arranged right" and proceeded to move everything around. Everything. Then she cut up the rubber mat thing that I had that was amazingly helpful for me to open jars with. She cut it into strips and stood decorative plates on the strips so they wouldn't slip. That was the last time house sitting from them happened lol.

That pasta looks so good. I am a shishito-head. There is a fine line between the blistering and burning for sure. I like to blister them, turn the heat off and put a lid on the pot for a bit. Then sprinkle with sea salt and squirt fresh lemon juice all over. Makes them a bit more tender imo. I don't eat them raw. I will say that the ones we grew in the garden had way more taste than the ones that I've bought at the store. Mine were hotter, too. Catching up. Getting a lot of nice radishes from the garden. Made a roasted mushroom salad Turkey sandwiches Lasagna No plated pictures because it fell apart like a big mess. Fried chicken on Sunday Ronnie grilled some lamb chops for Memorial Day. Asparagus, potatoes and breaded tomatoes on the side. Lemon posset for dessert Felt like eating Asian-ish..but wanted salad so I made two along with some potstickers Pork noodle salad Asian chicken salad My cleaning angel brought me another huge bunch of her delicious strawberries. Heavenly. I made some vanilla ice cream in the Ninja Creami Ronnie went fishing on Thursday and came home with more lovely walleye. Also a crappie and some bass. As he was leaving the lake the game warden informed him the lake and the campgrounds were closed indefinitely due to blue-green algae. So, no more fishing at his favorite lake. So sad for all of the campers too. Anyway, walleye for dinner last night along with some mustard greens from the garden.
  22. Chances for storms the next few days. Won't have to water for a while lol.
