  1. Shelby, I like the textural look of those everything bagels...Nice crunchy hills and valleys to hold the seasonings...that's a good thing!!
  2. Thank you so much for this!
  3. That how I learned to like it, as my grandmother made it, She had one of those large metal meat grinders that screwed onto the end of a table thru which she put the chicken, apple, pickles ,boiled eggs, etc... whatever the ingredients of the day were.
  4. If I'm having it as a salad, as a main , or served on a bed of greens, I like it diced. If served as a spread, whether on bread or crackers, I prefer it a bit finer, so chopped small would be more likely. I'm not one to shred meats, don't care too much for the long fibers.
  5. Looks delicious, I still don't know what we , 3 of us, are having. Last nights leftovers of little Yukon gold potatoes, and grilled rib eyes may play a part. And eggs, always eggs whenever possible . Merry Christmas!

    Dinner 2016 (Part 3)

Last night was Singapore Mei Fun, styled after a local takeout place ( Foon Ying), that my stepdad really likes. I made them less spicy than they do, but overall turned out very nice.
  10. What are those yummy looking little strings of sausages on the left made of / typically used for??? and the belly below... and the duck? legs... so many good looking things here!!!

    Oreo Cookies

For those of you who haven't looked lately, there is also a Key Lime Oreo w/ graham cookies ( not a true graham cracker, but better than a regular golden oreo) Quite tasty. very intensely limey.

    Dinner 2015 (part 4)

kayb, Now that's my kind of meal. How did you make your squash?
  17. Huiray, Was thinking of you yesterday when I found a recipe, well not so much a recipe as a serving suggestion for shishito peppers. I see from your recent FM purchases you have some. It suggests searing them in some olive oil in a hot skillet and then serving them dressed/topped with a nice flakey sea salt, lime zest, a squeeze of lime juice and bonita flakes. Have you ever had or seen them this way? I've never had them at all but they do look good. Just a thought :-)
  18. I'm gonna chime in here. Kim we can't even begin to tell you and Mike how much we enjoyed your visit. What fun... can't believe it came and went so quickly. Huiray, , as far as Shapiros, yes we did go to the downtown location. I knew the Carmel location had closed, and was not aware of a new Keystone location. Besides, the first one I ever went to when visiting Indy before moving here was the original location. We also love their rye bread and my dad will often stop by and grab a loaf and a pound of corned beef to bring home. I did mention Claus's as we were driving over to Shapiros as an after lunch excursion, but everyone was too full to contemplate even looking at more food ;-) ( we'll have that little field trip to look forward to later) We did see the Skyline Chili as we were heading home from Penzeys on 82nd, I think that added to Kim's craving. I myself have never been. Not familiar with Amelia's. Will have to check it out. Hollyhock Hill was one of the places visited during Kim's last trip to us. ( MSN had it listed as #32 on a list of the 50 best fried chicken places in the US...don't know who decides these things). And no Shelby, I ate the rest of those tomatoes around 3:00 am the next morning, so you can't have them!

    Dinner 2015 (Part 3)

As always Huiray, that looks delicious.( especially the patan)
  21. Anna the crumb on that bread looks so moist and tender.
  22. Huiray, I have seen Viet Hua so many times, but are usually only near it when we go to dinner as Formosa ( night worker, sleeps mostly in the day) We always say we'll go after dinner, but when we are done, we all just want to go home. The photos on the site linked look so clean and spacious, as opposed to the narrow and cramped Asia Mart. Will definitely go and check this out. Thanks for the recommendation. With Kim Shook coming in June, maybe we can take her, as well as stock up some goodies to cook while she is here!
