Hoarding Ingredients - suffering from Allgoneophobia?
GlorifiedRice replied to a topic in Food Traditions & Culture
Speaking of Crayons...remember, if the stored grains smell like crayons they are rancid (w/the exception of basmati and jasmine, those you cannot tell) -
Im watching Live w/Kelly & Michael and they have this guy on showing them how to make Mozzarella.. he told Kelly and guest host Anderson Cooper to use JUNKET RENNET tablets! I was under the impression that JUNKET RENNET tablets cannot make any cheese, its too weak. I tried repeatedly to make cheese with them and failed.. I ended up having to purchase rennet from Rikki Carroll (sp?) Have they changed the formula recently to accommodate the gourmet home cook? Ive been told by many people (maybe even here) that Junket wont form curds, They also said to add 1/2 cup salt to the warm milk at the beginning.... Seems off.

Look, What if something happens? What if your power goes out for 5+ days? JUST USE IT! BE HAPPY! BTW I got Yuzu juice at Hmart...Theres NOTHING you cant replace by internet, post or bribes. How many people in NAPA California were saving shit up for that special day and that earthquake came and it fell on the floor and broke and spoiled it? USE IT! use it! -

Okay look, I used to do this...I also used to buy stuff that was discontinued that I loved, and store it away. I did this with beauty items as well... I had Hamburger Helper Spaghetti flavor stored away from 1999! Hair Dye, Winsome Wheat color from 1994... Tossed it all. you know why? cause you get used to not wanting to use your stash and find new replacements. Use it! Enjoy it...be happy. Truly you can get more... -
Im sorry, I took your original post to mean that you were afraid that it would die before you got to try it in everything

Exactly, it cannot be killed. That and those 'wild' strawberries and raspberries. Cant kill em.

Mint cannot be killed...I got rid of the garden the original owners of my house planted 10 yrs ago and the mint still returns. However someone killed the nettles

Different Names for the Same Food Item: What's in a Name?
GlorifiedRice replied to a topic in Food Traditions & Culture
The word Coriander is the French name, so in all honesty there is no English word for it. Cilantro is the main term for it in the USA -
I know they make them, but why dont they use them more often or or sell it at the supermarket here. They dont even use it on the Food Network.
-
Why dont they sell Bay leaves ground so people dont choke on the leaf or have to fish them out?
-
Im just watching this demoed on HSN2. Everythings coming out BLACK on the outside, undercooked on the inside. They are selling it for $269

Hii, I bought some olive oil the other day at the supermarket. Its Chilean EVOO. from a company called HUASCO This brand was discontinued and was heavily reduced..so I bought it I was pouring some into a NorPro squeezy bottle and noticed stuff that looks like Vinegar "Mother" swirling around in the bottle. Here are 2 pics http://i.imgur.com/iDxwCkj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/EvrusLr.jpg Ive never noticed this phenomenon in other oils. Is this safe?
