Howard Hughes and Spam

Howard Hughes was an eccentric billionaire who designed a specially-built bra for Jane Russell for one of her movies.

Jane Russell was one of the favorite pin-up girls for servicemen in World War II.

During WWII, Spam was served for breakfast, lunch and dinner because of the difficulty of providing fresh meat rations. Servicemen referred Spam as 'ham that didn't pass its physical' and 'meatloaf without basic training'.

Charles Lindbergh and sushi

In his six months in the Pacific in 1944, Charles Lindbergh took part in fighter bomber raids on Japanese positions, flying about 50 combat missions (again as a civilian).

One of the most popular Japanese food enjoyed all over is the sushi.

I owe two games so:

Game 1 - Steven Spielberg and sharks fin soup :raz:

Game 2 - Steve Irwin and tacos

Oscar Wilde developed a severe allergic reaction to the hair dye he used as he grew older

Peanuts, boiled or otherwise can procure an extreme allergic reaction, resulting in anaphylaxis and death

Anne, thank you for fiercely facing down the Woolf!

(Virginia Woolf is perhaps the most famous of The Bloomsbury Group. Roger Fry, the art critic, was another significant member. Eight Treasures is an example of a stir-FRY dish, ergo... )

Lessee...Dale Evans and a PB&J:

Dale Evans was the wife of legendary TV cowboy Roy Rogers

Roy Rogers' TV show aired in many markets on weekday afternoons, when the kids got home from school

Many moms fixed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as afterschool snacks for the kids to munch on while watching TV (or preferably doing their homework)

And Happy Trails to you too!

With this next one I'll have two challenges in the queue:

Janet Jackson and potato chips

Sandy Smith, Exile on Oxford Circle, Philadelphia

Who toom were you speaking?

I've been enjoying all the VERY clever jumps and steps and quantum leaps---I just LOVE being in company with such intelligent people!!!

Upthread, I was going to mention Tinky Winky and . . .He caused a puff of furor for carrying that purse, and I had to purse my lips tightly to keep from urping every time I scanned past that line. Glad it got retired.

Carry on.

By all means Rachel, jump in. I am sure you would make a great player.

Tinky Winky's red pocketbook came to mind when I was playing around with it, as well.

Edit to clean things up!

-Royce acquired the nickname "Royce" during high school after wearing a Turkish link chain with an R pendant resembling the Rolls Royce symbol.

Chewbacca and muktuk

1. Chewbacca was featured in the Star Wars films directed by George Lucas.

2. George Lucas was a film student at the University of Southern California.

3. (Speaking as a UCLA Bruin  ) The University of Southern California is a second rate university which boasts a highly touted football program full of "student athletes" who can barely read beyond an elementary school level.

4. A popular writer of elementary school literature is Judy Blume.

5. Judy Blume wrote the book about preteen teasing called "Blubber"

6. A meal of whale skin and blubber is commonly called Muktuk.
