Tortillas in Seattle?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine swears by the tortillas at Trader Joes.

You can get freshly made tortillas at Guadalupe Market on S 128th in Burien. Best I've had in the area.

Most women don't seem to know how much flour to use so it gets so thick you have to chop it off the plate with a knife and it tastes like wallpaper paste....Just why cream sauce is bitched up so often is an all-time mytery to me, because it's so easy to make and can be used as the basis for such a variety of really delicious food.

A few minutes north of Seattle, but worth the drive:

Pachanga Tortilleria & Deli

18132 Bothell Way NE # 1

Bothell, WA 98011

(425) 424-0570

Everything is fresh and extremely delicious, including house-made salsa, guacamole, and tamales. Also, it's (at least partially) employee-owned.

Oh! I'd just about given up finding good tamales here. Thanks for posting that.

If you are looking for tamales, as well as all thee types of chicharrones, you need to check out Carniceria El Paisano in White Center.

Really? I've been very disappointed in both their tamales (I've only been sold ones that come frozen from some factory somewhere-let me know if you got a store-made one!) and their tortillas. I do love their salsas and their hard taco shells (these are brittle and kind of greasy-not for everyone but I love them), though.

Guadalupe makes theirs fresh, but from Maseca. I thought they were good but not great. What I'd really like is a place that makes flour tortillas to order, like at the Fresco Tortilla places in New Yori.
