Hi there!

I was curious if there are any sources for wine auctions in BC-particularly for older vintages of BC wines? My guess is our province is still too archaic but I've been away for some time now and wondered if any new options had opened up...

Other than charity auctions that are hit and miss, there are no commercial auctions in BC. Ontario just started commercial auctions done through the LCBO a few years ago and they work well, however, I do not see much old "Ontario" wine though. Perhaps BC has something in the works. I would contact wineries directly who may be willing to sell things directly out of their libraries.

Unfortunately you and the rest of us are out of luck in this regards. You may have some luck as stated above with winery re-releases of libray stock. B.C. is still a young wine producer so it is it and miss on the provenence of older vintages.

Talk to individual wineries and brokers- read the wine spectator and do some homework and some traveling or e-mailing and get in the ground floor of wine production. Go to wine shows and make some connections- Wine reps are great people to know, they will set you up with any info you might need. Also phone arouind to any sommeliers and they will get you info to fill in gaps in your search.

Alberta is a good place for looking too

they do not have any wine industry to support so they have a wide variety from all countries.
