Hello all!

I'm a new poster to egullet, but I have read many of your posts on pizza stones. I am interested in purchasing some of the unglazed quarry stones that have been mentioned, but every place that I've called says they don't have them!! I've tried home depot, flooring stores, tile stores, concrete makers, the whole nine and NOBODY has them. yes, I'm cheap and would rather pay $5 for the tiles than $40 for an actual pizza stone. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I can go in the area to find these tiles? THANKS!!

Maybe they just don't realize what you're talking about. If you ask for unglazed ceramic tile at Home Depot, you may find them, in gray or in red. They're half an inch thick and six inches square.

Home Depot has them. They are a brickish red. Just as they were described. Look in the tile aisle, ask for quarry tile. You'll see em.

Though it's likely more money than the tiles, you can usually get a good sized pizza stone on ebay for <$20.00 or so.

Thanks,

Kevin
