I am planning a celebration in mid July for 10 people. I would like to entertain them in a private dining room in downtown Toronto. I would like us to be able to chat and mingle without disturbing other diners. Price is not a particular object. I was looking at the boardroom at The Fitness Institute. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Virtually every place has a nice private area. Biffs, Canoe, Reds, Hy's, Ultra, Rosewater (lots of them), Czehoski's (upstairs), Perigee. Take your pick and good luck.

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?

Lisa: No.

Homer: Ham?

Lisa: No.

Homer: Pork chops?

Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.

Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal. (The Simpsons)

Ruth's Chris has private rooms. Toronto Board of Trade, Ontario Club, Tom Jones has a lovely private room.

Practice. Do it over. Get it right.

Mostly, I want people to be as happy eating my food as I am cooking it.

it seems perhaps the best approach would be to phone your favourite restaurant as chances are that they will have a room.

(something i hadn't realized prior to this thread)

let us know how it goes

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. It does seem that many restaurants have a private area, something I hadn't realized before starting to plan this evening. I am going to check out a few next week and get this nailed down.

I ended up booking the private dining room at the Rosewater. I was there on Saturday and the room is beautiful. It is on the 2nd floor, glassed in overlooking the main dining room. Both the people that I have spoken to have been most helpful and pleasant. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
