When I ran out of this sauce this week I was  reminded how indispensable it is for my rice.

Of course it's good on just about anything.

Mae Ploy? They make lots of sauces and curry pastes - which one do you like?

It's their sweet chili sauce.

Having learned about gochujang only because someone posted about Eric Kim's buttered noodles and it's now become a staple in our house,  I'm interested in this sweet chili sauce.  What's your favorite way to use it?

I have been known to buy Mae Ploy's* red curry paste but as I can only buy this 1 kg pot, I don't do so often.

Must admit I'm not keen on the sweet chili sauce, but that's just me. Too sweet for my tastes.

* The brand name means 'Mother Ploy' (แม่พลอยand is the name of a character in สี่แผ่นดิน (Four Kings), a famous Thai novel. In the novel, she is a strong woman who was determined to preserve Thailand's (then Siam's) cultural heritage.

In Thailand, sweet chilli sauce (not necessarily Mae Ploy, in fact, most probably not) is the standard accompaniment to many fried foods.  It's also pretty easy to make yourself, and would wind being a lot better.

This sweet chili sauce can be used as a dipping sauce for spring rolls and fried foods as well as a marinade for roast chicken, beef, lamb or pork. You can also use it as a spread on your meat and vegetables in addition to using it as an ingredient for salad dressings.
I mainly use it rice and just about any Asian dish.
