A while ago I tried a recipe of Spiced Honey Glazed Ham. I added honey, onions and a bit of spices as well. I served that dish to my friend who works in a spice mill service ( Horton spices in Canada ). He did not liked the recipe, he felt  like something is lacking  which he guessed were few other essential spices like fennel seeds and  cinnamon. He also suggested me to add  celery stalks and thyme leaves to garnish it. Even though my ham turned out to be a disaster I am thinking of trying it again. Have you ever tried this dish?

Hard to respond since you do not indicate which spices you DID use

My recipe for spiced ham:

Score your ham.  Bake at 325 for 20 minutes per pound.  While it's baking, baste frequently with glaze.

Glaze

2 C brown sugar

1/2 C white wine

1/2 C honey

1/4 C Dijon mustard (or sprinkle of dry mustard)

1/2 C frozen OJ concentrate

2 Tbls powdered cloves

2 tsp white pepper

2 tsp ground ginger

Put all ingredients into small saucepan and heat, stirring until well combined.

Then baste baking ham, about once every 15 minutes or so.  Time it so that you run out of glaze when the ham is done.

Important note: Baste with the concentrated glaze from the saucepan, not with the juices from your baking pan.

Important note #2:  This glaze does not make a good sauce for the ham.  The texture of the powdered cloves is not pleasing.  If you want to make a sauce for the ham, strain the pan juices through cheesecloth to remove the powdered cloves.

I don't understand why rappers have to hunch over while they stomp around the stage hollering.  It hurts my back to watch them. On the other hand, I've been thinking that perhaps I should start a rap group here at the Old Folks' Home.  Most of us already walk like that.
