"Injured by flaming steak" -- anything like this ever happen to you?

TV and radio sports personality Mike Valenti is recovering from burns after a steak prepared tableside at a popular restaurant flared up and scorched his face.

Valenti — who appears on WJBK-TV (Channel 2) and at WXYT-FM (97.1) — was dining with friends in Birmingham at Bistro Joe’s Friday night when the incident occurred.

The restaurant’s popular Flaming Tomahawk steak — which is served on a sizzling plate — was being prepared at Valenti’s table when the server applied Bacardi 151 rum to the entree and it flared up.

I've had a couple of close calls at home, usually involving Bananas Foster and a questionable BAL, but never at a restaurant.

I just don't want to look back and think "I could have eaten that."

I've had a dish popularly referred to here in Ecuador as Camarones a la Piedra - it's shrimp served on a hot stone, and the server flames them with cognac at the table. On one memorable occasion, the flames went a bit higher than intended and left a scorch mark on the ceiling (I think this was the one time they used overproof Pisco instead of a proper brandy - it's much higher proof so I'd expect more of a fireball); I've never ever been injured by it though and I do eat it regularly.
