Potato Knish

This recipe has been in my family for a few generations.

Once you get the dough down, fill them with anything you like.


Dough

  • 4 c all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 c canola/vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 c warm water

Potato & Onion Filling

  • 2 lb yellow cooking onions, peeled & chopped
  • 1/4 c oil or shmaltz
  • 5 lb red potatoes, peeled
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
