  1. I was thinking of getting some Pho for dinner this evening, you just made my decision for me...And I will not be getting any plum sauce! Now the only decision is where...Saigon Dish, Pho House or Pho Hoa.
  2. I have always thrown them away when they get to that stage, I just dont think they are any good.
  3. I was so upset, I had my only trip to Memphis last year for the Memphis in May BBQ seminar and did not even get to eat at any of the little places...ended up going to Issac's in the Beale St. mall..but I am trying to bring a california team for this years event.....that will be BBQ heaven!
  4. This thread made me wonder...is anyone a member of the chip of the month club?
  5. Hmmm, lets see.... James Earl Jones (Legend) Rudy Bosch (old crusty survivor guy) Roksoburo Michiba (Iron Chef) Ian Wright (Lonley Planet/Globetrekker host) I think that is a well rounded group!
  6. What kind of toast, wheat or sourdough?...what kind of fruit?...This sounds good!

  9. I was just wondering since I am somewhat obsessed with Japanese culture and society (its a long story). Has anyone ever eaten at any of the Iron Chefs restaurants in Japan?...I heard that Iron Chef Sakai has a pretty nice place and that Iron Chef Kobe opened a pasta place...Just curious as to whats its like..... Anyone know of a cheap capsule hotel?
  10. And he wouldnt have made them taste so darn good!
  11. The best I ever had was at a small place in the middle of highway 41a in Clarksville Tn, called the Wagon Wheel cafe. One of those small town southern places with pictures of the customers on the wall. The Chicken fried steak was so thick and crispy yet tender. Served on top was the absolute best white country gravy I have had to this day...Oh yea, it does not get much better than that on a cold morning!
  12. Culinary Detective, don't fear the C This is not an attempt at shameless promotion but Fredlet from e gullet just designed a "Don't fear the "C" " shirt for my site...here is the link..its pretty cool!
  13. Is the prob my computer or the server...? Sorry about the multi posts
  14. Does anyone know how I could obtain an image of the "C" placard to use on my t -shirts?
  15. I am so doing Viet for lunch today!
  16. I have not tried them either..I guess when I think "Blue" I am not thinking "Spain" off the top of my head. I would like to try some and think I will make a point of looking for some over here in California
  17. Dammit, I hate all of you! I am dying reading this thread as I still have not made the Haj to Philly as its one of my lifelong dreams to stand in the street holding a cheesesteak in each arm (one from geno's/pats). Like Moses cradeling the 10 commandments I will proclaim that I...and only I will be the judge...But alas, its only still a fantasy!
  18. A "B" means its got flavor and a "C" means you are eating at someplace authentic....most likely in an ethnic area and much better than some fusion crap at a beach city...."C" Rules...If they (C's) were good enough for me in college, then dammit, they are good enough for me now!
  19. I think that the only way a place should be able to seek litigation/compensation is when said location can prove malicious intent on the part of the reviewer, otherwise he/she is mearly expressing said opinion...and we all know what those are like!
  20. I know this may not be as "gourmet" as some of you like...But I make a blue cheese, bacon and creamy minute rice dish that everyone I have made it for loves....Its simple and takes about 8 mins....Just melt some butter with shallots and garlic, stir in the raw minute rice, then add cream or half and half and cook, add the blue cheese crumbles and bacon crumbles....stir till its the consistancy you want and eat....mmmm good stuff...but about a million calories!
  21. I love Blue Cheese...I was thinking that many of you do as well. Few cheeses taste as good with balsamic or a nice glass of port as a good Blue...So I ask you all, what is your favorite type of Blue Cheese. I love a good Dutch Blue as I think it has a lot of depth to the flavor as it seems to fill your entire mouth with flavor rather than just the tongue. I also enjoy a Blue Gouda that I get at Whole Foods and think its a good hybrid type cheese. I also can not forget....Bob's Big Boy blue cheese dressing....oh yea, does not get better than that.
  22. This is not a pun (coming from me), but a shot of Cognac added to the mix really hits the spot!
  23. What area, what kind of food and what price range?
  24. I have a hard time getting General Tso anything out here in SoCal...90% of the place I have gone to dont have it. I got hooked on it while I was in the army at Ft Campbell Ky. Used to have it every weekend!
