  1. He is, he has a ear piece hat he gets info fed to him from, as well as a live internet hookup to his powerbook..But he did have to do some studio voice over work...
  2. I would have given anything to be a judge on that panel!...Both chefs dishes looked amazing, it looks like it pretty much came down to taste in the judging. ..I really liked Morimoto's tempura lobster 3 styles.....served on the 3 plates stacked up....nice!
  3. In this month's Vogue, Steingarten writes about being a judge on Iron Chef. I was surprised to read that he thought Flay produced some of the best tasting dishes. I guess you have to eat the stuff to really judge. I second that and I WAS THERE! Flays dishes were awesome, no disrespect to any of the other I.C's but the man can cook. Flay cooks for the American palate, he has tthe same advantage that the I.C's had in Japan...home field!
  4. Well, the Battle of the Masters is upon us. I liked it for the most part, but agree it needs to be tweaked a bit. I do think some of it gets lost in the exchange of cultures with regards to Fuji TV vs Food Network produced shows. I do think that it was pretty serious and very focused on the food elements. I also think that Alton did an outstanding job, but could use a guest sidekick. Now, your thoughts please.
  5. I liked it and thought it was light years ahead of the UPN disaster. I also think that Flay's dishes were more appealing to the American tasters...I do agree that Alton could use someone to talk too and maybe an audience or "royal box" would help in that aspect. on another note...I am going to do a shoot with Fuji TV on Sunday at a local bar to get Americans reactions to the new show...I have to set a location up in the morning but it will be some place near Hermosa Beach...if anyone in L.A. wants to come and be part of it and maybe be on TV in japan, drop me an e mail and I will give you the location.
  6. I kinda like the graphics..Mario looks like a bad ass with that ham!..He's gonna lay some smack down!
  7. Yea the L.A. times ran a piece on Tues with spoilers on the secret ingredients...I was suprised to see the Puck let the cat out of the bag as well...too bad.. I think FN is going to see how well this does and if its a big hit, make more...Now my next mission is to be a judge...knowing my luck,if I get picked it would be battle "poi" or battle "kim chi"..yuck!
  8. the Daily Breeze does not have photo's on the web site ...Too bad cause the article had 9 photos in it!..I dont know why its text only...maybe i should ask...I do know that they just did a big survey about the web site, so maybe changes are a coming...I will try to post some more on my web site...I had to keep em off until now...but i did sneak that kitchen stadiuim photo on the site!
  9. The link to the article I wrote does not have a spoiler in it...We were discussing how all the other ones did...Both papers in L.A. that ran stories besides the Daily Breeze listed the theme ingredients...Which really takes the fun out of it..Plus we were asked not to give out the ingredient....Oh well..
  10. I think it was pretty weak of the times to leak, not one,but two of the secret ingredients...It really takes the fun out of it for the viewer as we all know half the fun is trying to guess the ingredient
  11. here is a link...the article was published with 9 photos...looked great,I am stoked, but unlike the Times,I dont give away the theme ingredient! Iron Chef,Daily Breeze
  12. Of course, e-gullet was credited, that's where the information came from. And we won't post something if we're asked not to. I'm looking forward to reading your review. I knew you would be reading this thread The article will come out in the paper in the morning you can see it on dailybreeze.com Welcome to egullet
  13. So after its over, should we discuss it here or start a new thread? oh yea, if you read my article you should be able to figure out one of the theme ingredients!
  14. Pardon, Chris Cognac san, But Yes...what? But to which... what? I can tell you, you are right!...I can not be any more specific...plus it would ruin the fun..Plus it would get posted on Iron Fans.com just like he posted my Kitchen Staduim photo from my web site!...but at least they credited e gullet! Only time I have seen Ostrich eggs was in Fear Factor!
  15. So we know the ingredient is either potato or langostine. I vote for potato Where will the article appear? Its going to be the feature weds food section article in the Daily Breeze....dailybreeze.com will have it, but without pics!..I will post a link if I can Trish....yes!...but to which ? Mabelline... I didnt see any ostrich eggs, but it could have been another battle....
  16. Wow...ok here it goes 1. Yes there was a pretty good size fire when Morimoto was grilling some items.. 2. Yes they did, there is a big timer on the set...but soome prep work is done beforehand 3. No, they were all really cool...in fact they finished early 4. See #1 5. No..I think Food Network put soome thought into the theme ingredient and strayed away from Octopus and Turtle type stuff..we as Americans are a litttle more squeamish! 6. Sakai made a potato wrapped Langostino that looked amazing 7. The entire process and how complex it is...and the amount of brand new all clad stuff on set 8. He did great, very serious 9. i couldnt here them...its different..they are not featured like the old show 10.No...isnt she in jail? 11.Flay was a pro the entire time and cooked some great stuff 12. Which one? 13. Not Sorbet........
  17. Which episode...I went to the Morimoto/Flay v Batali/Sakai match and didnt see anything like that. Bobby is a pretty nice guy based on my 2 times speaking to him at the shoot and for the interview in USA Weekend..I think alot of it is hype, if he did jump up on the counter, it was a calculated move to get people talking....which they will!
  18. Sorry, I missed the other post...my article comes out on weds...but what the heck, what do you want to know!...
  19. In 40 years, Wal-Mart will be the world. I found it ironic that when I turned onto the street today, 1/2 mile from my home I saw a sign....it simply stated "Wal Mart superstore opening here soon"....Great
  20. I have always said that Wal Mart and Disney are the "Evil Empire"

    El Pollo Loco

Wow, that sounds like a wonderfull marinade. if it was not raining here at the moment (yes it does rain in California) I would be out on the grill so fast, but instead I am making a batch of French Onion soup!
  22. This is nothing special but the one meal I have had in Galveston was at Landry's. It was good, and had a nice view...great lobster, decent price.
  23. I have written a ton of search warrants, and I have never even heard of that word...I will have to try and work it into the next one I write When I was an ADA - I used to write search warrants too. Don't think most of the cops - not to mention the judges - would know what I meant if I used the word . Were/are you an ADA in California (I was an ADA in Philadelphia)? Robyn A Deputy DA write a search warrant....not ever gonna happen out here!..Us hard working Detectives have to do that...Lawyers are to important to do grunt work..plus they cant miss those lunches with the judges and stuff!
  24. I dont know, maybe its because I am a laid back California dude...but you guys in New York seem to really take this stuff seriously. I dont think anyone would care as much out here about photo's and all that...I could never see this stuff going on out here..Oh yea, the e gullet dinner is this evening..I think we have about 8 members going to Fora in Long Beach...I am bringing my bitchin new Canon Rebel 6.3 SLR to tale pics with...so check out the thread!
