  1. If I could just get someone to send me for an article or TV adventure!...I would need a bargin rate on a capsule!
  2. I am staying at the Stratosphere next month for 2 nights during a convention. Foodzealot, how far is from the Strat?
  3. Some of the sandwhichs look pretty good...What is the long item, kinda looks like maybe a spam pattie or ham...I also think the chicken sandwhich with the dark sauce looks tasty as well...I really need to get to Japan to eat all the stuff.
  4. The one shot is of B/R burger...burgers to die for....really!..I wont go there unless I am armed...but man they are so good..There is a pic of the burger in this page ..B and R Burger I get pretty hungry flying around up there thinking...."oh, I bet that place is good"...hard part is trying to find it again on the ground at lunch time....I only get to see the roofs and fronts from the air!
  5. Wow, I have heard of wine snobs, but meat snob?
  6. Could you have picked a worse picture of me...I look like a total dork!...My "piece" is in the shoulder holster I am wearing...The place in the spot light is "Las Hamacas" a wonderfull mexican place where I have arranged to have a tasting menu put on for us, should we choose.....Now Jschyun.....you need to post the cute pictures I took of you in the back seat of the helicopter while we were flying around.....By the way, the pics do not do the view justice....its simply amazing and a never ending see of lights that do not end until the ocean! you can see the "theme building" with the restaurant "encounter" inside, in the LAX shot along with the new tower...It's really cool cause you fly right down the middle of LAX to land on the chopper pad!
  7. Hey, I had buy a rain coat this year...first one ever! by the way Jschyun is SUPPOSED to post some of the cool photos from the "tour" soon...
  8. But who gets to be the unlucky schlub that has to have his heart surgery done by a chef!
  9. I used to love getting the "any soldier" letters and packages during the first gulf war. They are a real moral booster to a home sick G.I.. make sure to include a hometown newspaper as reading material is scarce and chances are someone from your town is over there and would love a local paper!
  10. What about "pork donut" jokes...you can kill two birds with one stone then! Just so you know, the donut thing is from back in the old days, cops would hang out in donut shops because they were warm, open and had coffee...most people forget that we have to be out 24 hrs a day in all weather, while everyone else gets to be warm and toasty inside! Now, on to the tour...Las Hamacas, the first place that we flew over is a neat little southern mexican place with about 8 tables....anyway, I spoke with Jose the owner/chef yesterday about him doing a tasting dinner for e gullet people one night..He said he is all for it and would work on a menu....I think this would be pretty fun for us to do and it would not cost a bunch. I can set it up for march or April....he has great mole! People often wonder how we find our way around in the sky....I tell everyone, I just look for my favorite restaurants and they light the way....it may sound funny, but its the truth!
  11. OK, so I have to decide between the melting pot and the new Kobe Japanese steak house in Seal Beach for my birthday dinner this friday....which one should it be...just me and the wife!

    Howdy folks!

A co 2-502 Infantry 88-92....I assume then you and I have eaten and had some fine brew's and many of the same places along 41a! Good to hear from a Brother Screaming Eagle! Did they have Pizza Rabbit with the "Kitchen Sink" pizza when you were there...We used to pool our money and get them for barracks party's

    Howdy folks!

Welcome to E gullet Rusty...greetings from California...you mentioned prodigy...man, that was like the begining of the Internet...we have come a long way....by the way I am former 101 Abn...so a big Hooahh!
  14. That now fully explains your personality to me, thanks. That scares me that everyone seems to know what the DSM-IV is!...I heard the DSM-V is out now
  15. Chris, don't limit yourself to capsule hotels! The love hotels are much more exciting!! I know they are cool, but the capsule's kind of have a "space station" feel to them and it would be like having my own little fort...
  16. I remember the creamed beef and toast with fond memories...I had never seen louisiana style hot sauce until I got in the Army at Ft Campbell Ky. All the southern guy would put it on everything....and it was so great on the creamed beef...I ended up keeping a bottle in my grenade pouch in my LBE web gear....that and Tapatio got me through some cold long nights as a grunt. Now MRE field cooking is a different thing...as a light airborne infantryman I was a "SKILLED" MRE chef and could whip up some mean grub with an MRE.....oh yea the peanut butter, cocoa powder, cracker, powdered cream pudding mixed up in the field...or the water in the cream packet that you could light on fire to make candy...or the chicken ala king, mixed with ramen and boiled in a canteen cup, topped with the cheese packet, cracker packet and hot sauce.....oh yea baby...when it was 10 dg outside and you had been in the woods for weeks, nothing tasted better!
  17. That was cool....I tell you, if I could only arrange a vacation around eating in vending machines and staying in capsule hotels my life would be complete!
  18. One city comes to mind when one think of Filipino food....Carson! Carson has a HUGE Filipino population and a million places to eat, from nice to hole in the walls. There is a Filipino place that everyone talks about in Hawthorne called Rice Toppers. I ate there once and it was pretty good, but I am not really into Filipino food so I stuck with a beef dish and some tasty Lumpia!...
  19. You have to get a meat pie at Harry's Cafe De Wheels. Its been one of my dreams to go there, please eat one with mashed potatos and the green pea sauce and tell me about it!
  20. I have had a few friends go and they liked it. I plan on going soon to check it out.
  21. I smoked a beef brisket this weekend and had leftovers....so the next day I chopped some of it up and crumbled Danish Blue over the meat then wrapped it up in a tortilla.....man, it was so good!!!!...What a combo of BBQ/Blue Cheese!
  22. I still cant belive that we used to get by with only network TV. We watch Food TV and Discovery/Travel pretty much all the time. The only problem is that it seems like there is always a Vegas special on the travel channel and we end up making plans for Vegas...which costs us money!.... I am also a big Iron Chef fan as I love those over the top Japanese shows...Takeshi's Castle/Most Extreme Elimination Challange is another one thats great (its on Spike TV).
  23. How about french bread pizza with all kinds of good meats, cheese and fresh herbs...should be easy enough to do and you can make a bunch of different types.
  24. Coke, ice cold in a bottle from Mexico..not the US formula. Also anyone done the milk and pepsi thing? its really pretty good!
  25. Maybe no one has the internet in Memphis!... I really liked Memphis and got the chance to see it from the air in a helicopter for about 90 mins...We circled around Graceland and all that stuff....it was really nice, loved walking downtown and looking at the old buildings and just thinking what it was like 50 yrs ago.
