Thanks for highlighting these. I bought some and enjoyed them with my morning coffee which is sort of redundant since they're coffee-flavored. But good! Funny thing is when I went back to my Walmart Grocery store the next week, they were completely sold out. Or just not stocked (Walmart is famous for not stocking items).

In Canada: "Olymel S.E.C./L.P. Recalls Ready-to-Eat Ham Products Due to Possible Salmonella Enteritidis Contamination" There's a link in the second paragraph that will reveal the product label. The article contains product specifics info.

Some finds from this morning's perusal... It's like trying to find Waldo in the "Where's Waldo?" books... Another William-Sonoma cookbook where it's not advertised as such. But when you use the "Look Inside" feature you see their name/logo on the first few pages. Again, just an odd thing... "The Breakfast Bible: 100+ Favorite Recipes to Start the Day" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the index of recipes. Looks like both Metric and Imperial measurements. "Small Bites: Skewers, Sliders, and Other Party Eats" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes. "Sheet Pan: Delicious Recipes for Hands-Off Meals" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) There is a recipe for "MUSHROOM & GRUYÈRE TART WITH HAZELNUT HARICOTS VERTS" on this cookbook's Amazon info page. Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes. Looks like both Metric and Imperial measurements. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

"Mt. Olive Pickle Company Debuts Pickle Salsa and Dill Pickle Brine 'Juicers'" I'm not too sure about the salsa. The photo of the pickle salsa in the article looks a little too juicy/wet for dipping tortilla chips into it. Most salsas have more of a thickness to the sauce which helps it stay on the chip. If anyone spies either of these products in their local grocery stores, please take one for the team.

Posted here: "Man creates new pasta shape made to hold sauce" Not a big fan of the "How much are you willing to pay to try this?" sales pitch on that web site. I'll wait until it sells on Walmart or Amazon at a decent price.

An absurdly stupid question about this display of fully cooked packaged bacon: Why aren't these packages being refrigerated? I took this photo at a local VONS grocery store and have seen the same sort of non-refrigerated display of fully cooked bacon at the local Walmart Grocery store. Just because they're boxes of fully cooked bacon doesn't mean they can just sit on a store shelf at room temperature, can it? It's cooked bacon. Won't it go bad without being refrigerated? It's not like the bacon is hermetically sealed inside either, or vacuum-packed. I've seen my sister-in-law open a package of Oscar Meyer Fully Cooked Bacon and the bacon isn't in air-tight packaging. What's going on here?

Three (or is it two?) cookbooks from the Williams-Sonoma line found this afternoon: "One Pot of the Day: 365 Recipes for Every Day of the Year (Williams-Sonoma)" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see recipes. Looks like measurements are Metric and Imperial. "Vegetable of the Day: 365 Recipes for Every Day of the Year (Williams-Sonoma)" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see recipes. Looks like measurements are Metric and Imperial. For some unknown reason, they didn't use the Williams-Sonoma name with the next cookbook like they did in the titles of the above two cookbooks. Yet, if you use the "Look Inside" feature, there it is in the opening pages of this cookbook. Odd. "Everyday Slow Cooking: Modern Recipes for Delicious Meals" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see recipes. Looks like measurements are Metric and Imperial. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

"Ketchup shortage hits restaurants, fast food chains across the U.S." I can see why this happened what with the line of cars at every fast food drive-thru as I drive past them. Don't people cook anymore? The article also mentions the shortage of pepperoni because apparently everyone and their mother was ordering pizza during the pandemic. I believe I did hear about the aluminum can shortage. Perhaps the customers should consider buying their libations in bottles as an alternative. Back to the ketchup...the shortage seems to be just in the restaurant packets. Thank goodness my three jugs 'o' ketchup I buy at Costco seems untouched by the shortage.

I think chicken wire may have too large of openings to protect the garden from iguanas. Some could easily slip through. Which is why I think the netting/mesh would be a better option to protect the plants.

Just Oregon, I believe: "FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Raw Ground Chorizo Sausage Products Due to Possible Foreign Matter Contamination"

These leapt into my shopping cart at the grocery store this past weekend. It's not my fault. @Kim Shook I'm looking at you. I do have to say the Flaming Hot powder definitely masked most of the "onion" flavor. Still, a nice snack while perusing eGullet.

Got a small Smithfield ham from Walmart for my Easter dinner (and leftovers for the days afterwards). Served with rice and oven-roasted asparagus (a la Roasted Cauliflower) which was just a delivery system for the melted parmesan cheese I showered over the roasted spears.

Two new Limited Edition doughnuts at Krispy Kreme: "Krispy Kreme Has An All-New Oreo Glaze And This Is The Best News We've Heard All Year" There's a photo of the doughnuts in the article. They certainly look decadent. Anyone willing to take one for the team and try these new doughnuts? Please report back.

Just stumbled across this on YouTube: A little history and humor thrown in... How To Make Banh Mi with Andrea Nguyen For those who can't stream, here is the URL: https://youtu.be/k4HA1ejw_hA

Yes, this. The peas look very green...no orange tint on them. The chicken, quite orange...reminded me of Butter Chicken. And the white rice definitely has an orange tone in the shadows.
-
They also come in "Flamin' Hot" (quite popular with the young crowd) which means they took the orange powder they use on the Flamin' Hot Cheetos and doused the Funyuns.

Do you mean no wine was being sold? My Aldi's does have a wine section. Not as impressive as TJ's but at least they had some. Or did you mean Aldi's did have wine, but that you go to TJ's for that?

Boiled eggs shouldn't be out of the refrigerator longer than 2 hours. It's a food safety issue. If they have been out for days, I wouldn't recommend eating them.

A new month, new bargain-priced offerings... I try not to post diet/healthy-eating cookbooks, but I am making an exception here due to the author-of-note: Mark Bittman's "The Food Matters Cookbook: 500 Revolutionary Recipes for Better Living" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see recipes. Restaurateur & Actor Danny Trejo's "Trejo's Tacos: Recipes and Stories from L.A.: A Cookbook" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Well reviewed. Priced normally at $12.99US. Rosanna Pansino's "Baking All Year Round: Holidays & Special Occasions" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see recipes. Well reviewed. "Pie School: Lessons in Fruit, Flour & Butter" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

"Man creates new pasta shape made to hold sauce" Here's the URL for those who can't stream the video: https://youtu.be/lTskUfIihXU I had a silly thought when I saw the pasta shape. It sort of looks like a retainer for your teeth, or one of those "night guards" that prevent teeth grinding as you sleep. File that under "You know you're old when..." If anyone takes one for the team and tries the new pasta shape, please report back.

Stumbled upon this odd cookbook this afternoon... From this cookbook's Amazon info page: "Each of the 60 recipes opens with a short vignette about a story about a unique Southern character." "A Good Meal Is Hard to Find: Storied Recipes from Deep South" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll all of the way down to see some cocktail recipes from the cookbook. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

It was on sale. Alas, not anymore. From my BookBub email from this morning: "Bones: Recipes, History and Lore" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll all the way down to see a few recipes. Looks like measurements are Imperial and Metric. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

Reviving this ancient discussion... Bacon jumped the proverbial shark a long time ago. Now Oscar Meyer is offering bacon-scented shoelaces. "Oscar Mayer Is Releasing Bacon-Scented Shoelaces In Case You Need That In Your Life" Winning the shoelaces involves hashtags...see the article for the particulars. The thing about these shoelaces is they're too far away from my nose. Why not make a bacon-scented necktie or hat or necklace? At least those are near your head where you can enjoy the bacon aroma. The marketers missed the mark on this one.
