It's odd how if I skip breakfast, I can plow right through the day and not eat lunch and not feel hungry. But if I eat breakfast, I'm hungry at lunchtime. It's like the priming the pump. Maybe it's a carb thing.

Has anyone tried the new Pringle Selects? (it's a Flash web site...click on the link, click on "New Products" and then click on Pringles Select). They come in four flavors: Parmesan Garlic, Sun-Dried Tomato, Sezchuan Barbecue and Cinammon Sweet Potato. The Szechuan Barbecue chips have "rice flour" as the main ingredient and the Cinammon Sweet Potato chips actually have sweet potato flakes as the first ingredient on the ingredient label. These are a lot more expensive than regular Pringles potato chips (about three times as much as a single can). The Szechuan Barbecue chips are smaller than regular Pringles (I can't speak for the other flavors since I didn't buy them): Since I didn't have a camera handy, I scanned some chips next to a quarter for size reference. The Szechuan Barbecue chips do have a little heat to them. I'm a chile head and they don't faze me a bit, but I do recognize there's a little heat there. They also have a good soy sauce flavor with some spice undertones (I think I can taste a little ginger). Their texture is a bit like Pringles, but these are a little crisper than Pringles. Now I am anxious to try the other flavors.

Sorry it was a bad burger! What were the big differences between their normal burgers and the Angus burgers? I can't imagine them wandering too far, flavor-wise, from the hamburgers that made them such a success. They had a very quiet ad campaign to promote the new burgers from the 8th to the 11th. I heard one radio ad that said if you showed up at a local McDonald's between the hours of Noon and 2pm during the last four days, you could try the burger for free. I don't know if you had to buy anything else. Unfortunately, I couldn't take advantage of the offer. I'll see if I can get around to trying one this week. Thanks for taking one for the team, though.

I swear I thought I did a Friday evening recap. *sigh* Here's the morning recap to clear out the deadwood: Please don't assign numbers to your new movie foods...if a movie is solved before it gets put into a recap, I don't give it a number since it's out of play. Also, we're getting some repeat movies. Try not to use "Cool Hand Luke", "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", "Fargo", "Moonstruck" and "Dirty Dancing" as they've all been used twice. CONGRATULATIONS TO: -insomniac correctly guessed that #130 (Mom's making my favorite, spaghetti with lots of oregano( also in same film, pate and corn nuts(BQ) ) is the film "Heathers" and also solved "That's a very PLUM plum" as the film "The English Patient". She has also solved #137 (A well traveled turkey held hostage, raw potatoes that don't mash, Krispy Kremes) as the film "Pieces of April". -waterdogs solved #135 (Goat's milk drunk from a bowl. Sports fans HATE this movie) as the infamous "Heidi" incident and also solved #125 ("I'd like to hear you psycho-analyse us. what would you say, huh? overbearing, controlling, my husband is a cheese phobic?" CLUE: same movie as the lsd laced quail) as the film "Flirting with Disaster". -racheld has solved #107 (Quails, fish paté, potato soup) as the film "My Dinner wiith Andre" and has also solved #118 (V-E-A-L P-I-C-C-A-T-A CLUE: "What's veal?" (To himself) "Uh... God. What the hell is veal?") as the film "Children of a Lesser God" She also solved #131 (Tubs of whipped cream, eaten before a flickering tv set. CLUE: The character is a fat slob of a blonde who binges everytime she sees the actress who stole her doctor fiancee. Another scene shows her opening cupboards filled with whipped cream tubs) as the film "Death Becomes Her". -waterdogs and insomniac both pitched in to finally solve #66 (Pizza with "stinky junk, bits of sweaty sausage, a little tomato, nice, fresh spaghetti, an old cheese rind, lettuce that's good and rotten, one olive..." CLUE: the original order was for a Neapolitan, no anchovies; and a Margarita with anchovies, and "can I have ham too ?" CLUE: before dinner's over, one of the diners gets (what the ever-heavyhanded Bond sriptwriters would call, were it a Bond movie which it isn't) 'the point'. CLUE: hitler's diaries) as the film "Trente-sept deux le matin" (aka "Betty Blue"). ************ WAITING FOR CONFIRMATION: -Nicola Kountoupes has guessed that #110 is "Friends with Money" -GordonCooks has guessed that #131 is "Seven" -racheld has guessed that #127 is "Zorba the Greek" We know: #110 is not "Big" nor is it "Tuesdays with Morrie" #127 is not "Birdcage" #134 is not 'Edward Scissorhands" nor is it "Pleasantville" ************ STILL UNSOLVED AND TAUNTING US UNMERCIFULLY: 97. CLUE: This line was spoken towards the end of the movie during a $10,000/person charity dinner for Lou Gehrig's disease that was attended by the entire ensemble of characters. CLUE: For nearly the entire duration of the movie, one of the characters thought that the charity dinner was to raise funds for Alzheimer's rather than Lou Gehrig's Disease. CLUE: Also, on two separate instances, another character spoons into a tub of ice cream in front of the fridge and noshes on cookies while working at her desk as a coping mechanism for dealing with her insensitive husband. 123. "you know what a putenesca is? it means naughty girl's pasta." 127. "DONT be DELICATE!!!" CLUE: in reference to someone's drinking style CLUE: it is yelled at close range. CLUE: the man (A.Q.) is doin' a Liza-DoLittle, reverse style, on the british gent. a chair is broken, wine is spilled on a clean white shirt. Also, consider posting more clues if your movie remains unsolved. ****

A new movie: Jelly Babies, Coke & Scotch

You may want to consider putting some sort of netting over the grapes so the critters (feathered and otherwise) don't get at them. Consult your local nursery/garden center for more info.

You are correct! Elwood's niece made the egg and onion sandwich for the sanitarium worker, sort of a woo-ing move on her part. The turkey wing clue was from the social gathering Elwood's sister was trying to throw when he showed up and disrupted the party by just being himself. Food aside, in this film Harvey and Elwood liked to imbibe and how!
-
Congratulations, Johanna! You are correct. The clues all have to do with the lyrics to "The Good Ship Lollipop" sung by Shirley Temple in the film "Bright Eyes".

I like making this when Vidalia onions are in season...it's a sort of oven-poached salmon. I line a roasting pan with foil (for easy clean up). Place the salmon (I use a large skinless filet) in it. Add dill, fresh or dried, on top of the salmon. Lay thin slices of Vidalia (or a sweet) onion on top, covering the salmon. Add some crushed garlic. Add a cup or so of white wine. Cover the pan with foil and bake in an oven preheated to 350°F for about 30 minutes. My garlic turned blue once when I used this method, but it still tasted great. It doesn't get much easier than that.

No. The film is quite, quite a bit older than "Chitty...". edited to add that the film being discussed is #114, to clarify things.

I just stumbled across this model again on Amazon.com (FoodSaver Pro III Vacuum Sealing Kit, White) and discovered it's even a little less than it was before. There's no extra promotion this time so it's not as cheap as it was but the price is still quite good.

Yes, you got it and I posted your success in the recap. Nathan Detroit was trying to get Sky Masterson to make a sucker bet. I am guessing that #122 ("you'll eat it rare. to feed your blood") is "Moonstruck" (again) Edited to make a Guy a Sky (thanks Rachel!)

Yes, my Costcos have the same brown bags. Given that most of what you buy at Costco is generally humoungous and heavy, I don't trust them to hold up to the weight of the products bagged within. I don't buy the excuse. Practically every grocery store in my city has a bin where you can recycle plastic grocery bags. I recycle them myself at home by using them to carry lunches, for storage, etc. As I explained previously, I even use them to re-bag my Costco purchases for ease of handling when carrying said purchases back to my residence. It just irks me that I pay a yearly hefty membership fee to belong to Costco and yet something as picayune as plastic bags seems beyond Costco's customer service. And if they wanted to do something good for my local environment, perhaps they shouldn't have moved out of their Big-Box building a couple of years ago (which still stands empty as I write this) when they built their new Big-Box building at another location.

Has anyone taken one for the team and tried the new McDonald's Angus Third Pounders? "McDonald's Reportedly Testing High-End Angus "Third Pound" Burger" I've seen them on local menus but didn't take notice of the reportedly higher price. They look a lot like Carl's Jr. burgers (not as flat as the usual McDonald's burgers). Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? The TV commercials for the burgers are aimed straight at the same Carl's Jr. - Burger King market (male, from teens on up to about mid-20's). On the positive side, Paris Hilton hasn't appeared in any of the spots yet.

117. A coffee plantation It's a vague clue (could be anything) so I'm guessing "The Naked Jungle" with Charlton Heston and Eleanor Parker trying to escape the red ants.

Ah, but because a) I haven't seen "Kiss the Girls" and b) that wasn't the movie my original posted clue was concerning she may have been technically correct but she wasn't correct for my posted clue.

You're so fortunate. My mom's neighbor has a lime tree that will probably have to be yanked. The freeze that came through did major damage on it and the neighbor doesn't think it will come back. I also hope March behaves so you don't lose any of those precious blossoms!

Kiss the Girls ← This one was a Twofer---how about Manchurian Candidate---the original, with an uncharacteristically grim Angela Lansbury. ← "The Manchurian Candidate" is the one I was thinking of so you are correct Racheld. The man (a US Senator) is holding the carton of milk in front of him when he is shot, the bullet going through the carton and into him. Great imagery of the milk spurting out representing his life blood draining away.
