To me you played it too close on the time. I don't see it as a service issue either.

I am not sure what I find stranger; people that buy microwave mashed potatoes or the people that can’t understand the directions on the package.

Hydrocodone is the generic term for Vicodin a step below Percadan on the narcodics scale and several up from codeine. It will change how food tastes.

Make sure to use the heads in making the stock. The fat in them is wonderful.

When I lived in NJ there were some places that sold the American equivalent of that; Quick Check and Wawa come to mind. Some of the items were sold out of a deli case and others were packaged like what you show. Here in Chicago you don’t find too much like that. Maybe a few delis have items like that but the White Hens and 7-11s don’t. They stock rewrapped sandwiches and frozen to be microwaved items. The deli departments in some of the food stores have better offerings including sushi, fried chicken and ribs. Others offer food either as take out or to be heated selections but most of the food is sub par. Maybe America will advance to this level in food and vending use but as of now we are way behind you.

The tradition in our family is to turn the jack-o-lantern into Thanksgiving pie. Trim off the burnt areas and the wax.

This is due in part to China producing more copper at cheap prices.

But how much of the copper pan cost is the cost of raw copper? I would assume not much unless they used some special type of copper that's different from what's used in ordinary machine workshops. Is lining copper with SS any harder than lining aluminum with SS? If copper pots in europe cost much the same as non-copper pots and there are clear benifits to copper, why is it so unpopular in the US? AFAIK, Falk Culinar is a US based company and make their pots in the US so shipping can't really be the reason. ← Spot nonferrous metal prices Wednesday. Copper is a commodity and is priced accordingly. If you look in the financial section at the price per pound for copper, zinc and steel you will notice they have different values. Copper is 2-5 times the cost of aluminum and steel. Accordingly objects made of the metals are priced in ratio to base cost. Then from there you get into ornamental and brand differences. These can not be valued the same way but the material can.

I don't know about NM but in a lot of states the "free" meal is in fact taxable.

Pigs blood comes to mind and it does not clog up you pen. lemmon juice or milk also work but have to be heated to be seen.

Fat does no harbor parasites or allow for bacterial growth. I don’t see what the problem is. It is only when contaminated with protein from blood or other fluids that it becomes a problem.

roasted with curry and salt.

I think there was another thread on this subject.

I would agree with that. Too much of a chance that they will “cute” it up and make it more of a dumbed down joke than quality show.

Having most of the downside covered by others here and rather well in some cases. Never work for free, work at Min. wage, as it will accomplish a few things the least being the general liability issues. There has to be some sense of value in the situation both for you and the people using you. There is no incentive for either party if all you are doing it for is “education”. Find a place that does catering and banquets that may need people on an as needed basis. You will be giving up some nights and weekends but you will have an easier time getting your foot in the door. You also will learn a lot and have a little slack afforded towards the situation. As the old joke goes, I only work half days at my job. The first twelve hours.

Why not replace the elements?

I have noticed that only some things that have MSG in them cause me problems. Doritos nacho chips are fine but Pringle’s pizza flavor chips are not. Maybe it is the concentration or mixture with other agents that is the problem and not just MSG.

Windows on the bay in Beachwood has some good food and a fair wine list.

Over on the east side of the street by the high school? I think that is the place. Citas Olde time Tavern used to be good but I think they are closed. It has been a long time since I have been in the area. Blue Fountain up on 37 near holiday city has good food but it is low end as far as service or decore but Jim and Nick do roast meats well as well as some specialty dishes. The two main dinners are good for a quick bite at reasonable prices. Baimonte over off of Hooper in Silverton has good pizza. What have you tried in the area and likes? Skip Jack Bakers at all costs! There are some interesting ethnic places along route 9 you might want to try.

Kobe in Howell for Japan and sushi. Zagett's mentioned some new place on Main St but I forget the name and have never been there. Top of the mast in seasid park used to be good as was The Red Lion in Brick off of old hooper ave. If I think of any more I will post them. Not too many places come to mind other than chains and a few dinners.

Kobe on Rt. 9 in Howell used to be good.

Sorry but I don’t buy that in most cases. In fact I think if the ambient noise level is that high there are other problems to address. Leaning forward is one thing, squatting make the server look like a subservient inviting abuse.

Where are your favorite places to shop in Chicago?
WHT replied to a topic in The Heartland: Cooking & Baking
What area of the city will you be in? There are lots of places that will sell retail some more than others. Is there something you are looking for? I might have some places for you to check out.
