  1. Are you using it open or closed? Same plate (grill or griddle) on both sides? Open should have same temp, but closed the lower might get hotter due to convection - same plates - I bought extras so I can have grill or griddle top and bottom at the same time - I think there might be a difference depending on which plate you're using p
  2. So instead of "hot" and "not so hot" sides you have "not so hot" and "not so hot" sides - doesn't work for me I have the Smart Grill - it doesn't have separate controls for the sides just time and temp - works fine https://www.breville.com/us/en/products/grills-sandwich-makers/bgr820.html?sku=BGR820XL p
  3. I'm surprised the paint can didn't melt -great series of photos!!! p
  4. Link didn't work for me Try: https://www.amazon.ca/Acorns-Cattails-Modern-Foraging-Cookbook/dp/1510709681 Amazon.ca link p
  5. Other way in Orillia - I guess carrying empty bottles was easier than full ones p
  6. Not to be an a**hole (though I may be!) but hone/home which would you use? p
  7. Very much like our store in Orillia - they store the beer in a refrigerated storeroom in the back - so if you want to have a cold one on the drive home/????? Actually I think all the beer stores in Ontario have the same setup - unless they're a really small outlet that doesn't have room for cold storage - their customers have to drink warm beer on the way home 😝 p
  8. Same with The Beer Store in Orillia p
  9. Ontario used to be very restricted My father had an "Individual Liquor Permit" in 1961 that he had to have to buy booze. My first experiences were when you had to look up what you wanted on huge lists - then fill out a request form, take it to cashier, pay and then someone went into a big closed off warehouse-like area in the back to get what you wanted Many years later they had stores where the actual bottles were on display and you took what you wanted to the cashier - still owned and run by the government - PROGRESS!!! Nowadays beer and wine are available in most grocery stores - no spirits though and not a great selection Times have changed, but still not perfect p
  10. That plastic paddle is "hard" plastic and I've been scared of it - I use a silicon spatula that is somewhat like a scoop (scoopula?) p
  11. Tried that but to no avail - maybe my CSO was really, really sick or I just didn't execute well enough Actually the trick that finally worked was to purchase an APO 😀 p
  12. I had a Breville failure (fan bearing) and my CSO decided to stop steaming p
  13. You must live in Canada 😃 p
  14. Expensive in CA (as is everything) p
  15. Not the Gripstic, but it reminded me of these: https://www.amazon.ca/Jokari-169306P2-Hands-Free-Storage-Holder/dp/B0049NQEKO/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1YSDGTU2H9W41&keywords=baggy+rack&qid=1646012510&s=kitchen&sprefix=baggy+rack%2Ckitchen%2C278&sr=1-4 Think sous vide, think vacuum sealing - getting a good seal means having the seal area clean and dry. I'd tried folding the bag back on itself, even made a funnel from a plastic bottle. Nothing worked satisfactorily, Then I discovered these - they held the bag securely, held it open and upright - hands free. I've used them for soup, chicken pieces, just about ay thing that is wet and messy and my seal area is clean and dry. They ma not appear very substantial but they hold the bag securely and I haven't had any mishaps and the price is more than reasonable. p
  16. I'm guessing the reason for smaller coils is heat dissipation p
  17. Having an apron is essential = to mop up spills 😛 p
  18. Bag in bag! I have a couple of insulated freezer bags I use in the summer - place frozen items in one which is then placed in the other which is finally placed in the cooler - the trick is to remove as much air as possible from the bags and to use a cooler that is just big enough for your needs - filling any excess space in the cooler with newspaper or some such will make a big difference. p
  19. A follow-up: https://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=2374496 I wonder how the two ladies managed without their new Vitamix blender - did they have an old one? What kitchen appliance would sub in for a blender? I've used a food processor when making hummus but the results are not as smooth/creamy. Vitamix's response was unexpected and certainly reaped plenty of PR coups for them p
