I haven't got anything new, but Janice Bluestein Longone who was known for her huge collection of culinary memorabilia has died. I'm sure she always had something "new" https://apnews.com/article/entertainment-united-states-michigan-ann-arbor-obituaries-e5815a98ade6b2f31ee3a8629e4823b9 p

Food expiration dates are sometimes arbitrary and not science-based

I thought of you when I read the original article, obviously the right way is the way that makes your rice come out right, the way you want it. p
-
I wonder if Zojirushi and their ilk actually intelligently sense the ratio you have used and adjust the cook time to produce a good cook - I tend to use basmati and often with add-ins and I use 1:1.5 (rice/water) and the add-ins are not included - my rice turns out fine. p

Athletic? Not great for liquids 😈 p

Dill pickle vodka recalled in Ontario due to 'pieces of glass https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/dill-pickle-vodka-recalled-in-ontario-due-to-pieces-of-glass-1.6011476 I didn't even know there was such a thing???

Not a "recall" per se, but rather a tightening of rules: https://apnews.com/article/health-iowa-agriculture-food-safety-93664bd92422447542090e51f74101d7?utm_source=Connatix&utm_medium=HomePage

An interesting alternative: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0819N2Z9S/ref=syn_sd_onsite_desktop_180?pd_rd_plhdr=t&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyMTNUOUhITlRHNjMwJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTg3MTcwUUVXM1czVjZLRVRCJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAzMjIxOTgxWFBXNUI5NDE5RElHJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c2Rfb25zaXRlX2Rlc2t0b3AmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl&th=1 Not sure how it would hold up to long term storage, but worth considering if you don't have a chamber vac or if it doesn't have the interior size to accommodate your protein they have different sizes p
-
Well it's Vacmaster's brand, so I would say that's a step in the right direction - I say this with no experience with oil driven pumps in chamber vacuum sealers and their requirements p

Haven't heard back from you p

Strawberry huller? p

I see you're a Breville fan as well - how's that "a little bit more" work for you? p

Rabbit Hole Alert: https://www.thisoldhouse.com/painting/21018327/all-about-polyurethane More than I ever wanted or needed to know 😁 p
-
This is a quote: Polyurethane wood finish offers durability and water resistance. This makes it a popular alternative to more traditional coatings such as shellac or lacquer. Learning how to apply polyurethane to stained wood can enhance the appearance of the stain while protecting the surface from scratches and more. Minwax is a popular brand. p

Well for about half the price I have the Zojirushi NP-HCC10XH, which I'm mighty pleased with 😉 https://www.amazon.ca/ZOJI-Zojirushi-NP-HCC10XH-Induction-Stainless/dp/B00VAG84O2/ref=sr_1_8?gclid=Cj0KCQjw_viWBhD8ARIsAH1mCd7oDnmq5H8ez87HZWT47JeEkh1JKHP1LL9X3yDOD2AaI0oiulaUOoMaAgCzEALw_wcB&hvadid=232516112804&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1002400&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=14193729701323109596&hvtargid=kwd-329823087564&hydadcr=21260_9444673&keywords=rice+maker+zojirushi&qid=1658776589&refinements=p_85%3A5690392011%2Cp_89%3AZojirushi&rnid=7590290011&rps=1&s=kitchen&sr=1-8 AmazonCA doesn't even stock Jo's p

A thought...Kitchen Aid has an attachment - no idea how efficient, or why it wouldn't suit your needs It may have been discontinued as I couldn't find it on Amazon(CA) - I bought on when I got my first KitchenAid - never used and ended up giving to my sister-in-law - other sources have it for about $190 CDN p

Looks like something a pathologist would use to microplane samples for analysis p

Think of the inner lid of a canning jar after you remove the ring - if you tried to remove the whole lid at once it would be nigh on impossible - if you managed to get it started on one side (edge) the whole lid would lift off easily The opener Anna is using wedges up one edge of the lid, breaking the vacuum and making it easy to unscrew. Now that I've totally confused you, you should go buy weinoo's or mine, which are much less obscure 👅 p
