    Dinner 2020

It’s muggy here in Northern NJ and in the 90s. Last week the lows were in the 40s. 🙄 we’ve been doing a lot of cheeses and crudités and some air fryer chicken wings. The temptation to order sushi daily is real.
  2. This article cracked me up: https://www.thecut.com/2020/06/i-learned-that-you-can-cook.html Cliff notes— woman never revealed in 5 years of a relationship that she could cook and cook well. The quarantine outed her.

    Gazpacho

I love it but haven’t made it. I don’t like anything with more than a slightly spicy touch. I’d like to make it and top it with fresh crab and a drizzle of infused olive oil. Any recommendations?

    Dinner 2020

I hope so because I already have a cart full of delicious looking snacks and we are putting up a large inflatable pool this weekend. Snaking like that in the pool...😎

@Norm Matthews I haven’t heard of the Smoking Goose. Now I have about $400 worth of things I don’t NEED sitting in my online basket.

    Lunch 2020

I don’t know. There’s been plenty of times where I’ve wanted a hot dog and didn’t care where I got it. A vendor in Times Square, Criff Dogs, Shea Stadium dogs, Windmill NJ dogs, Max’s in NJ....

@rotuts we ordered a pizza the other day. My husband ate it all. I’m going to order my own!
  8. I don’t know that I’d be comfortable in a restaurant with masks and gloves and all that. I’ll probably be getting delivery or pick up for a while. But reservations are impossible to get in my town after reopening outdoor dining space that’s super positive imo.
  9. Just a FYI that the Jones turkey sausage (which was delivered as a sub for the pork version) isn’t great.

@liamsaunt happy anniversary! Those oysters are making my mouth water! I have no clue how to shuck not that my husband would let me (I am accident prone!) so I am really jealous!

@weinoo thanks for reminding me that I have that same Cuisinart panini/ griller whatever. I’ve never used it!

@BKEats can you tell me more about the bacon jam you carry? Is it available online? How do you use it? Thx.

    Dinner 2020

Pistachios. I get pissed when the ones that are barely open won’t open. But now I’m contemplating buying a couple dozen clams... on the half shell, in white clam sauce. Oreganato, maybe on top of a puff pastry.... local 130 in jersey delivers all over the state. Just wish I knew how to shuck clams and oysters!

Lou Malinatti’s sausage pie via Goldbelly. Pretty good. I have Pat’s cheesesteaks coming in a week or two.

@Kim Shook this article kind of describes it: https://njmonthly.com/articles/eat-drink/soup-to-nuts/turkey-london-broil-a-jersey-original/ but it’s outdated. Most butchers in NJ carry it, vacuum sealed in a bag with a light marinade. It is a Jersey thing I believe. We did not use the advice above, we smoked it with indirect heat. I am not a turkey person and this was the best turkey I’ve ever had. It was almost hammy but juicer.

    Dinner 2020

we smoked/ grilled in the BGE a turkey London broil. It took 3x as long as anticipated and it looked like jerker but it was insanely juicy with a great smoke ring. First time doing it and not the last.

@liamsaunt that peanut noodle salad looks right up my alley. Can you share the recipe?
  18. I’m trying desperately to get a slot even on 4/30 with no results. I’m going to have to go out. I did get a cloth mask from Etsy so I’ll use that. My local Kings has plexiglas and set up aisles to go in one way only. Better than my parents going out.
  19. Funny post aside I was able to get another delivery tonight this time via Peapod (Stop and Shop). Absolutely no cold cuts and no toilet paper or even skin on, bone in chicken thighs. That said I was able to get 3lbs or chicken breast, swordfish steaks, shrimp, flounder and a ton of frozen veggies for my parents (dad has a poultry allergy). I got two 12 packs of mega bounty paper towels (one for them, one for us) and the canned soup they requested. Plus 2 bottle of bleach and 2 bottles of Windex antibacterial cleaner so I gave them one. We each were able to get bananas and cherry tomatoes. They got cucumbers I got baby cucumbers (Maisey LOVES them) and zucchini. I also got a ham! It’s good in the fridge til June so I’m glad to have it. I quickly realized we had no room for my parents things in our freezers so we packed it up in a box, I called my mom to let her know and we drove the 3 miles to their home, passing the (closed, it was 8pm) testing site on the way. I was freaked out when my parents small dog came running up to us, jumping and wanting attention. We didn’t have gloves or scarves because I *thought my parents knew to stay inside*. Nope. My dad came out with gloves and a scarf to hand me a blank check. 🙄🙈 money is the last thing on my mind right now, and I know how fortunate we are. It just sucked to stand as far away and grab the envelope and not be able to hug or kiss my dad. I kinda wanted to run inside and stay with them but, I am 40 years old and know better. Just tugged at my heart. But I am glad they’re staying home and relying on me. So the hunt for a new delivery time goes on. We are well stocked for now. And thank you to whomever mentioned Cost Plus World Market. I have Bistro gravy in my cart, along with a Bavarian pretzel baking packet and will slowly add as we make our way through our food. We have been good about using it. I’m pretty proud of that. I won’t buy anything I’ve never used and I haven’t panic purchased.
  20. If you go to the bottom of the post there’s another 30 entries that didn’t make the top 30 list. They’re pretty hysterical too.

I love Pringles because my husbands hand is too big to fit in the can so I can sneak eat at least half a can! 😂

@Tri2Cook thanks I forgot I had mushrooms. Will definitely make them they compliment steak well.

    Easter Dinner 2020

Couldn’t find ham anywhere. To be delivered that is. I’m not going out just for ham. So it will be filet mignon, roasted cauliflower or grilled zucchini, baked potatoes and salad.
