  1. Untrue. Historically New West has a major sale later on this month to coincide with National Knife Day. Many spatulas I have, but only two chef knives.
  2. https://supermarketitaly.com/ Today and tomorrow, 10% off everything. Ask me how I know. I usually place a big order twice a year. This time I am exploring canned sardines. I purchased several cans of Pinhais and Matiz. My favored Paesano olive oil is sold out but I am trying a bottle of Partanna that was on clearance.
  3. Yesterday, small Fissler saucepan.
  4. New West KnifeWorks is offering a free spatula ($139) with purchase of a chef knife. https://www.newwestknifeworks.com/collections/featured-this-week So far I have not been able to convince myself I need another spatula.
  5. However New Zealand probably has hot dogs.
  6. The local Shoprite stocks the milk shelves from a refrigerated room situated behind the shelves. The shelves are actually part of the refrigerated room.

    1) That which does not kill us makes us strong. 2) Possible, but I'd believe buzzards first. 3) No duplicate appliances in bedroom. Duplicate appliances are in living room. 4) False. Bags of limes live on bedroom floor. 5) Recall I cut myself on a plastic bag not that long ago. 6) Only one blast freezer here, sadly. Oh how I miss the lab days with a walk-in.

What variety of RG beans? Another dreaded bean club shipment is on its way.
  9. Beautiful! My last bread went stale before I finished it. It's awfully hot in New Jersey but maybe I will bake this weekend. I sometimes get that shine however I can't count on it. I wish it was reproduceable for me.

I'd worry about getting cut on the plastic wrap.
  11. She could always visit New Zealand, I hear they are about the same.

Yes, I saw that. How do you use it in the kitchen?

Could you explain the oscillating multi-tool? It does not appear to be a culinary implement.
  14. Batch 21. No different from batch 20. I am enjoying the fruits of my labor as we speak.
  15. Good question. I think my favorite kitchen tool is the one I'm relying on at any given moment. In this case my beloved Blendtec. And about to be the Kuvings juicer -- since I am preparing a batch of orgeat (for which I need my Paragon induction and my homogenizer too). In all fairness the Zojirushi was a lot less expensive than the Blendtec. Ask me again when I am cooking rice.
  16. And none of the hikers' injuries were serious, except for the tourist who had to be airlifted.
  17. Did you check the bedroom?
  18. The new Zojirushi has a feature called "My Rice (49 ways)". You can adjust rice stickiness and softness in 49 combinations.
  19. I cook pork sous vide to pasteurize and preserve it. When I can get quality pork I much prefer to grill my chops, turning every minute. Your mileage may vary.
  20. I'm with you, Kerry. I weigh my oat groats but I don't weigh rice.* Other than for rice, the cup I use is the US customary cup. And so we have, smaller to larger: Japanese go = 240100/1331 ml Modern Japanese cup = 200 ml. Canadian cup = 227.3045 ml US cup = 236.5882365 ml US legal cup = 240 ml Metric cup = 250 ml Imperial cup = 284.130625 ml Please don't get involved with Russian or South American cups. It's a wonder we can all communicate or eat. I can well understand how wars get started. *Oops, now that I think of it, I weigh Bomba for my paella. I'm not sure I'll be trying it, but my new Zojirushi booklet includes a recipe for paella.

So you can't agree on anything?
  22. Seriously, imperial was the last one I would have guessed.
  23. Now that I think of it, sake could explain 2401/13310.
  24. With your method how do you account for the water absorbed by and clinging to the rice grains after washing? (Serious question.)
