  1. I need to wait a few days to see how my next paycheck shapes up; it will be close. Did he mention when the freezer is expected to ship?
  2. Here it is: https://forums.egullet.org/topic/146617-cuisinart-combo-steamconvection-oven-part-1/?do=findComment&comment=1971794
  3. I recall reading somewhere that the middle top element is not supposed to turn on fully.
  4. Inspired by news of Kenji and his 700 eggs. Julia method. I have it down fairly well these days.
  5. Sadly for the discussion I am not a fan of boiled eggs; but I am about to go make myself an omelet.
  6. I am excited* that Kenji Lopez-Alt is authoring a monthly food column in the NY Times. Today's column is on how to boil an egg: 700 eggs evaluated double blind. *yes, really.
  7. Since the temper of the test strip was OK, could it have been subsequent overzealous application of the heat gun?
  8. Remember unlike previously Brunner will now sell directly to customers in the US.
  9. The problem, as I see it, is you can cook with only one insert at a time. Necessitating an A4 of each color.
  10. If I may add another voice, I am happy enough with toast from the CSO but I don't think it beats toast from my toaster.
  11. I gave up on brining after the incident in the refrigerator. Now salting meat is fine for me.

They say swordfish stores well at cold temperatures. Do not judge. A bit of belly, potato and coleslaw. Ignore any little specks.
  13. Sorry for Irena, boycotting Macmillan eBooks.
  14. Have not seen this year's crop at Shoprite. Have not visited Wawa recently to check. Spiced Wafers are as much a harbinger of autumn as flu shots and a lot more fun.
  15. I shall never again swat a fruit fly, deftly in mid air...such that the remains land in my coleslaw.
  16. How much was it before?
  17. Yes, they are cheap enough. I used to have a round cast iron griddle; gave it away. Problem, as I see it, is conduction of iron is not that good and the Paragon, like many induction devices, heats only in the middle.
  18. If I had to choose between the cauliflower and the people, I'd eat the people.

    @Margaret Pilgrim lovely green beans!
  20. How about adding hominy for a texture like pozole? I am no barley lover either.
  21. I ran into a problem but I can't say I entirely blame Paragon. Last night I was reheating a batch of corn tortillas on setting 9. I managed to warp a Darto pan. Steel doesn't have that good a conductivity. It was easy to see the pattern of the Paragon induction coil. At least the tortillas turned out half OK. Can anyone suggest a better pan or griddle for the purpose?
  22. I use a Hamilton Beach 932 citrus juicer.* Not exactly inexpensive so I hesitated to bring it up. The handle is plastic but the gears are metal. I cannot imagine the lemon that would make it fail. Maybe if I were juicing nutmegs. *every day.

And in what way is this not a pizza?

I can deal with peas and Lima beans, but give me cranberry.
  25. Seriously, the one that most caught my eye was... http://amzn.com/B07VKNDK8Z
