  1. I tried to. Meanwhile I note amazon now has the Philips grill for $129.99 (new, ships from and sold by amazon). But that is without the WS exclusive stainless grid.
  2. I am jealous. I called WS and they were not even seeing a 20% discount code on the site! I told the representative it appeared as a banner on top of every page; she could not see it. She suggested I must be using a browser addon. I am not. The code I was trying to apply was 877L-7C68-VJH6. The grill is sitting in my cart and if the code would have worked I would have gone for it. As I recall the Philips sale is good through 12/5 so I may yet consider it.
  3. You don't have to, but they say not to look at the light. I wore sunglasses first couple times I used mine. Then I got lazy. My eyes aren't so good anyhow.
  4. Were you able to get the code to apply on your order?
  5. I have a grill in my cart. Figured I could always use a spare. Thing is WS is not letting me use the 20% off coupon at the same time as the discounted Philips price. Now I have to think about it. @lindag were you able to use the 20% off coupon?
  6. You were not checking the cod by temperature? A minor problem with asparagus, one spear escaped down through the grate. But it was possibly the best asparagus I've cooked. Seriously.
  7. Bosch Universal Plus Stand Mixer - Black - Baker's Package with Additional Baking Attachments and Stainless Steel Bowl $399 on amazon. Was $455.

Tonight: Inspired by @ElsieD Philips grilled asparagus (7 minutes) was the star of the show. Hollandaise Piment d'Espelette.

Dim, dim recollection...decades ago on a business trip to nowhere, lunch to pass the summer hour, small train station in the south: picked up and drained what I thought was the water glass.

As long as your rye bread is already baked and you didn't have to catch and smoke the salmon.
  11. Thanks! I was planning to boil my asparagus tonight but since I am grilling a Berkshire chop, I might as well try the Philips. I note Six Seasons suggests 4 to 6 minutes without oil, though that might be for a hotter grill.
  12. How long did you grill your asparagus?
  13. Who's to say it didn't originally come from WS?
  14. Thanks! That explains the mystery.
  15. My Philips came only with the non-stick top. No wire grill to be had. I'm wondering if it is some regulatory issue here? In addition to bluefish I've grilled salmon, swordfish, tuna -- all with good results.

Inspired by Nigel Slater, The Little Book of Fast Food: a smoked salmon sandwich... Toasted rye bread, smoked wild caught sockeye salmon, lettuce. Alas no bacon for me. But -- wait for it -- Momofuku ranch dressing in place of mayonnaise.

Surely they need self assurance with that thick rim!

If only your glass had a proper stem. Barbarians.
  19. I came home tonight with two more Berkshire chops to grill on mine. But don't forget fish!
  20. I shall never again burn my wrist, causing my stir fry to grace the kitchen floor. Thankfully there is rice. I just wish there was more of it.
  21. My order of Bay State from New York Bakers arrived this evening. Thanks.
  22. If this looks a little different, it is my first attempt at 100% rye, 85% hydration. Unfortunately the flour is not the finely milled European style rye that I would like. From the picture the anticipation was not most promising. However the flavor was excellent and the texture was not half bad. I am very pleased.
  23. But don't call me Shirley.
  24. Good that you didn't have the fish.
