  1. Gorgeous. Reminds me I have two avocadoes in the bedroom not getting any younger. No beets nor pear, but I do have a shipment of cashews arriving from nuts.com, next day delivery. And half a pound of the world's best cheese.

    Dinner 2019

Asparagus, Berkshire chop, sweet potato. Sweet potato not cooked on the Philips grill. Normally it does not take much to render me replete. Something terribly went wrong. I had a plate of Campari tomatoes with Momofuku ranch. And then I had another. Then I saw the box of Sweetzels spiced wafers. No, I do not think I am pregnant.
  3. Didn't seem to rise at all.
  4. I get better results with sous vide protein in a hot pan or in the case of poultry, deep fried. But for steaks or chops or most fish I like grilling on the Philips best. And it's so easy and simple. For raw poultry my choice is the CSO unless I want to drag out the Farberware rotisserie for a whole duck or chicken. I'd love to see your results with squash.
  5. Japanese Home Cooking now has a coupon for $7.00 off.
  6. Yes, the last rye loaf I made didn't rise much* but was improved by toasting. This, I am not so sure. Weather permitting I shall bring it in the morning and see how many people die. (I'm not worried about my reputation because for last year's party I made chocolate.) *however it did rise.
  7. Tonight's rye for tomorrow's staff party at the library didn't rise. Not even a little.
  8. This TeamFar 8x10x3 inch pan makes for a great CSO lasagna pan: http://amzn.com/B0728GC529 (I just made CSO chicken Tetrazzini in mine.)
  9. Their Kindle books should be on-line. Call the library for help.
  10. Does not your library have Kindle books? I'm very much enjoying Japanese Home Cooking.
  11. Steak, asparagus.

    Dinner 2019

Chicken Tetrazzini. Comfort food. Bottle of Oyster Bay Pinot Noir and broccolini. (That's not what you think it is, it's a bay leaf.) Edit: P.S. that's what the mushrooms were for.
  13. Forgive me, but I haven't seen it mentioned: amazon has been running a three for two sale. Not just cookbooks. However delivered to my front door yesterday... Shizuo Tsuji, Japanese Cooking: A Simple Art Sonoko Sakai, Japanese Home Cooking: Simple Meals, Authentic Flavors FERRANDI Paris, French Patisserie: Master Recipes and Techniques from the Ferrandi School of Culinary Arts Japanese Cooking: A Simple Art I've read a couple times, but I've not owned a copy. Sadly it does not look like there will ever be a Kindle version. I just browsed a bit through Japanese Home Cooking. Lots of pretty pictures. Perchance @Anna N might consider it? Trying to lift books is an occupational hazard. Indeed, I just suffered a mandatory training course. Bending your knees and all that. Nothing prepared me for French Patisserie.* *except of course for @nathanm -- and Modernist Bread is one of the titles included in the sale.

    Lunch 2019

Beautiful! How is the sweet bean sauce similar to or different from hoisin sauce? Or are they the same thing?
  15. No, actually. I gave approval for the substitution.
  16. Isn't the Instant Pot Canadian?
  17. Totally inappropriate because "advise" is a verb. My doctor told me to eat more white meat. Berkshire pork. Pork, the other white meat. Not entirely funny, the woman who was eaten by wild pigs in Texas. No one actually saw the pigs. My theory it was zombies.
  18. Amazon is purveyor of many fine delectables. The hard part is waiting one or two hours for my stuff because I refuse to pay extra for fast delivery.
  19. I should have figured: Cucumber Chicken Stock Emmentaler Avocados Lady Alice apple Broccolini Scallions (no points for guessing why) Dry Aged Ribeye (for which Dry Aged NY Strip was substituted) And yes, I ordered mushrooms.
  20. Lemons Lettuce Bacon Butter Peanuts Plastic Bags Cranberry Sauce Green Beans Brussels Sprouts Sauvignon Blanc Heavy Cream Now ask what I just ordered from amazon besides the mushrooms.
  21. @Anna N were your vegetables also done on the Philips?
  22. I shall never again walk two and a half miles for mushrooms, and come home without the mushrooms.

If the cranberry sauce doesn't look like cranberry, it isn't.
  24. Blue penguins sound delicious.

Funny you should ask. Shredded for me, all the way. And for the record I hate mildly dislike doing it by hand. Recently I watched a Bosch video of mixer shredded chicken, but I never thought about the KitchenAid. Thing is I worry about bits of stuff in my shredded chicken, so I shall probably continue to shred it manually. There are worse things in life.
