  1. Using the new box to ship back the old freezer is what Vesta said to do. Thing is, after I unpacked the original freezer the box was more or less like confetti. I can't foresee a different outcome this time.
  2. If the recipe calls for quick cooking oats, it won't work so well with regular rolled oats. For cookies that specify quick cooking oats I flock my groats and then pulse them in the food processor.
  3. Or eat the pie and tell your doctor you don't want to take a statin.
  4. Be careful what you wish for. Somewhile back I broke the probe of my BF100 trying to get it out of a batch of ice cream. I am approaching the end of my unit's warranty so I thought I should contact customer support to see about getting a new probe. Turns out that unlike the BF200 and BF300, the probe of the BF100 is not user replaceable. The customer service rep asked for a picture. I sent a picture. Next thing I knew I received a FedEx shipping notice. Vesta is shipping a whole new freezer. That's excellent customer support of course but a nightmare for me. It was almost impossible to get the first freezer upstairs, and now not only do I have to repeat that, but I have to find a way to repack the old freezer and ship it back to them.
  5. I "watched" as the Whole Foods shopper prepared my order. The order completed but it never left the store. I've been told by customer service in the past that sometimes the delivery person, who is an independent contractor, not an amazon employee, never shows up to take the bags. That it is a bitter, icy night with a "freight train" winter storm commencing in the next couple hours may have to do with this. Of course I shall complain politely and of course amazon will reverse the charge. But sadly I do not have my $0.89 Bell & Evans drumsticks. Nor more importantly my critical supply of mai tai limes.

There was also a mai tai.

Can of Progresso New England clam chowder. It is 3:00 am and I finished my taxes.
  8. Amazon has Bell & Evans chicken drumsticks, normally $3.49 a pound, for $0.89. I ordered. Let's see if they really come.
  9. For meatloaf I don't think it matters much, though I have used the probe only once.
  10. Do you have access to Laird's?
  11. As I remember an old Consumer Reports review: "A dirty oven never killed anyone. The same cannot be said of oven cleaners."
  12. I always believed wine legs were the result of glycerin, not ethanol. Be that as it may, I have never observed a dry spot in the middle of a non stick pan. I would conclude such a pan was not heating uniformly. Unless it were really warped. And isn't teflon supposed to be nonstick even when not oiled?
  13. In the US broccolini is a trademark of Mann Packing. So if you want to sell broccolini you better call it something else.
  14. The toe was broken over twenty years ago. I am afraid it is as healed as it will ever get. Some party. Drank a lot of wine that night. Our hostess was a doctor. Least she could have done was serve morphine. However I believe @KennethT is the one with a taste for chilis.
  15. I have no problem browning bottoms on my steel in the APO.
  16. I wear slippers at home or shoes designated for indoor use. I once broke a toe cold sober on the foot of a couch of a shoeless household I was visiting.
  17. Like @Smithy I assumed the can was his beverage.
  18. I have three steam ovens but none that begin with "B".
  19. "side of deoderant"?
  20. Pleasant Hill Grain has been having shipping delays but my Ankarsrum attachment set was delivered yesterday. I believe I now have all the Ankarsrum attachments save two, the burr mill and the pasta roller. To test the grinder I made cranberry blood orange relish using the 6 mm disc. I never had too much complaint with the KitchenAid grinder (except for disassembly) but the Ankarsrum grinder is a class apart. The Ankarsrum is heavy cast aluminum, while the KitchenAid is plastic. The Ankarsrum knife and discs are heavier by far. The nut did not require a tool to remove. The problem now is where to store the pieces. A few might fit inside the chamber vacuum sealer. At the moment the box is in the middle of my living room.
