  1. Thanks, I will definitely use the levain!
  2. I'd love to make a loaf of that bread. is there a recipe I could follow?
  3. My Zo is more than ten years old, it’s the induction model. I've used it a lot and the inner pot is still like new. Mind you, I do not abuse it and hand wash it but unless there’s an earthquake here I don’t think I’ll ever have to replace it, I love this rice maker and would buy another Zo if anything happened to mine.
  4. There's a mountain of sourdough knowledge at KAF, I highly recommend it..
  5. I would use it to chill my beer and my cocktails. But I won't pay $100 for it.
  6. Yes, I can see that happening.
  7. That is a lovely looking loaf! Is that the 13” pan?

    Dinner 2019

:Store bought Yakisoba noodles stir fried with a mix of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and snow peas and stir fry sauce. No chicken this time. I'm grateful there's enough for leftovers tomorrow. Sunday the nearby Catholic Church is doing a Corned Beef fund raiser dinner. I can’t wait; they make the best corned beef I've ever had and that’s saying a lot!

Perhaps there was not enough filler for all that meat. Also I see there's no egg in your recipe which would have helped bind it.

The ingredients don’t look too wet to me. How fatty is your ground beef? Btw, I like to use CI's recipe for meat loaf (omitting the bacon) and it turns out beautifully every time, and, it is delicious! nothing beats a meatloaf sandwich.
  13. When we were shopping for a new home in MT we looked at a few open-concept houses. I didn't like the idea of one huge room. What about the noise? How do you watch Tv when the d/w is churning in the background. How do isolate sounds? We opted for a more traditional Montana-style home that has wonderful flow. The rooms connect in any direction so it's nice for guests. And, the dogs can go nuts!
  14. If my CSO died I'd be on Amazon within seconds ordering a replacement. I love that thing and use it every day.
  15. My fridge is a Kenmore Elite and the ice make has been repaired twice, both times the whole unit had to be replaced. (Fridge is now 12 years old). I use my ice maker every day and would not want to be without it.
  16. I remember putting crab shells in the outside garbage can in the summer....you could smell them down the block.
  17. I have to have a garbage disposal....I use it way more than my d/w. If I had to choose only one, it'd probably be the disposer which get used multiple times a day. I don't like to deal with wet, sloppy messes. I've heard some say they shouldn't be used with septic systems but, since it's all biodegradable, that shouldn't be an issue
  18. One of the simple joys in my life is my own homemade sourdough raisin bread (KAF recipe) toasted in the CSO and slathered with butter.
  19. Which book is it? Can you post a link?
  20. ME too. In fact, it’s disturbing just how much I love bread.
  21. I’ll have to try that.
  22. Cooking for one, I often have loads of leftovers even though I scale recipes to halves for less. So I will have the same dish for two or three days but then I get really bored with it and need to have something different. I toss a lot of food just because I can't look at it any longer. I used to be able to use up some of my leftovers by giving the appropriate parts to my dogs mixed with their regular food. Both have allergies now that prevent that since they're on prescription foods.
  23. I will never again allow so many leftovers (four large Tupperware-type bowls) to accumulate in the fridge so that when the dispose switch stuck it rendered said disposer inoperable. Bowls were full of the wet gooshy stuff that is impossible to pack up for the garbage can. Had to wait several days for the plumber. In the past I've bagged stuff like this up and frozen it til garbage day but these days there's no freezer room.
  24. I have two of the OXOs (second one was purchased during a kitchen remodel and kept downstairs for opening dog food cans). The OXOs replaced a wall-mount electric can opener that was a real POS that was awful to use. On a whim I once bought a QVC offered opener that was hyped because it took the lids off without leaving sharp edges. It has since left the building.
