    Cauliflower soup

I made cauliflower soup for lunch today, combining a couple ideas pulled from the thread. I made roasted cauliflower last night and saved a portion for the soup. I but this roasted cauliflower into a saucepan with some milk and a little stock, simmered it for about 15 minutes until it was very soft. I then pureed it with an immersion blender, too lazy to use the real blender. I could ahve strained it put I didn't, was going to chop it with some chives but forgot. Seasoned with salt and pepper and ate it, quite good in fact!
  5. I like Korean food, but I've never had bibimbop. Next time I eat Korean I'm going to have to try it. Don't forget to have some yuke with your bibimbap!

  7. I made these back when the article came out and was actually disappointed. I think I will go back and give it another try they were really easy.
  8. You mean shiro-yaki (white grilled) Here is a picture of both: http://www.unagi-kawakami.co.jp/ The shiro-yaki version is good with wasbijoyu (wasabi and soy sauce), or soy and giner, or even ponzu.
  9. I make mine similar to that masterchef recipe 2/3 cup soy 2/3 cup sake 2/3 cup mirin 1 to 2 Tablespoons of sugar I make a huge batch and keep it in the regriferator for quite a while so I don't add anything else, this way also I can doctor it up a bit depending on my feeling. Some ginger, some scallion, some garlic, some pineapple , or a little of everything. It is a great base sauce and great on its own.
  10. I wonder how many of these killers offered their victims a last meal of their choice? Why should they get a choice? and 3 times?
  11. A couple of years ago I bought a non-stick angel food pan with out thinking anything about it. The center is too narrow to place over a wine bottle! so I had to rig a contraption of some wooden sppons taped to togther placed in a flower vase. I left it hanging upside down, left the house and came back a couple hours later and found the cake had slid out of the pan, half of it wedged into the vase and completely smashed in. It still tasted good!

  22. Oh, but I like him so I put them in anyway and let him worry about picking them out! I too, love all sorts of dried fuit with couscous.
  23. Went to Costco Japan yesterday and kicked off the spring welcome by buying a smoker and 50 lbs of charcoal. I was very disappointed that they didn't have whole chickens, this was the only store I knew in Japan that always had them. Sometimes I wonder about the stuff they are selling in this country, yesterday I saw a kids swimming pool and a hammock both larger then my backyard! and I have quite a large backyard by Japanese standards.
  24. My MIL just gave me a bottle of Lee Kum Kee brand oyster sauce w/ dried scallops. Has anyone ever used this? It has an incredible essence of dried scallops. Bought at Costco Japan, by the way.
