This post is entirely @JoNorvelleWalker's fault. She posted about Supermarket Italy a few days ago and I spent far too much time looking around. I've been wanting to get some Anelli pasta for long time. I don't know quite what I'm going to do with it, but I love the shape. Maybe an adult version of Spaghetti O's.......

Friday-Kentucky Oaks Day was pizza night. Pepperoni and ham with olives and mushrooms. Salad to go with. Derby Day! Venison burgers on the grill. Threw on some hotdogs for lunches later. Awful corn. Fries. Lettuce from the garden. And Derby-ish Pie (so I don't get in trouble from the inventors of the pie I renamed it lol)

@kaybI'm coming over and getting in your fridge. The suspense is killing me.

Thank you for taking us along again!!!! Safe travels today and just think! Soon you'll be sleeping in your bed at home! Seeing Marco Polo outside makes me marvel, too. My cats would be off like a shot never to be seen again. Not to mention that I'd be a nervous wreck!

Happy Derby Day!!!! LOL, I never thought about omitting the mint......... I still don't know what I'm going to make besides the eggs. There is so much time between races that it leaves me with lots of time to putter around the kitchen. @chileheadmikeGlad the weather is perfect. Yes...many a derby are in the slop.

That's a good question. When I make it with fish, I only marinate the fish in the lime juice and then drain and then mix in the other ingredients. Same with the squid. No rinsing, though, so I guess it still does have the ability to "cook" more, but when I ate the leftover squid the next day I didn't notice that it was any tougher.

I've tried and tried to like mint juleps. I haven't had one for a few years....maybe I should try again. They are so festive and pretty. And the ones they make at the KD--the ones that are like 1000$ a cup --super pretty, but I'll save my money for betting lol.

It's that time of year again!!!! I've got my PP's printed. SO excited. Even though the KD happened a mere 8 months ago, it just wasn't the same. Glad to have it more normal this year although I think they are only at 40-50 percent capacity and masks are mandatory (who cares!!! I'd be happy to wear a mask!!) Anyway. Food. Deviled eggs for sure. What else? I don't know. I need to peruse the freezer. I don't want to make any grocery store runs this week. I have a box of veggies etc. coming. There is a horse named Soup And Sandwich that I've had my eye on......maybe that's a sign???

@Kim Shook Agreed on the cheese. Deli Deluxe is more "fancy" lol to us. The ones in plastic I buy for slapped together lunch time sandwiches and for when I have to give the dogs a pill. Oh the squid was so good. Yes, it was marinated in lime juice for long enough that it was "cooked". For squid it only takes like 40 mins to an hour. If you leave it longer, it turns into rubber bands. The texture is firm, but not too firm. A few of the thicker slices were a bit chewy, but that didn't bother me. The tentacle parts are my favorite .

Seriously this looks AMAZING. So mango dressed with lime in the salad with the rye croutons--MUST TRY. And the bread. YES. Thanks for the well wishes. I thought I was pretty close to the end of all of this and BOY was I wrong. Sigh.
