  1. My husband is building a green house right now on to the back of our garage. So, I hope to get more in to growing from seed. Every year we (and I say we very loosely...I mostly mean Mr. Shelby lol) start tomatoes from seed and every year it seems like, no matter what we try, they don't "harden" enough and when we plant them in the garden, they die asap. I do the planting so I'm very gentle with them etc. Kansas sun and wind are so hard on the young'uns, as is the weather in Oklahoma. My garden is not protected on any side from wind/sun.
  2. Good Lord, Chris, those chocolates are breath taking! We don't have any weeds going on here, yet. I wish we did! You getting any storms right now? We had some hail a bit ago...seems a bit tornado-ish....
  3. Yes, last summer was very hot and dry here: my tomatoes and peppers did not do well at all. I've just planted my pepper seeds last night, and the tomatoes and tomatillos are coming along nicely, so we better get a break this year! It's actually overcast today, which is quite unusual... how about some rain! I didn't eat at the restaurant this weekend (we ate at Mutts): are you talking about the food counter in the store, or the attached Mr. Pho? I was meaning the Mr. Pho.
  4. HI neighbor!!! Nope, it didn't even cross my mind that the teaser shots were YOU! I'm so excited to have a week with ya. It's sure been a warm winter, eh? We seriously need a rain dance or else this summer is gonna be like the last one. The pics of the Asian market are making me want to hop in the car. You're right. That meat counter is beyond fabulous. AND, the store is SO clean. Did you eat at the restaurant?
  5. I used this one. I baked them for 10 minutes and I didn't "smash" them very much with a fork. And, I used extra choc. chips.
  6. Okay, so this is kind of boring, but I wanted peanut butter choc. chip cookies. I used to suck at cookies....these were pretty good. Stayed nice and soft.

    Dinner! 2012

Pizza night My husband wanted a slice of American cheese and hot sauce over his runny egg (I know...but...it really looked good) Mine Last night was homemade chicken wonton soup and sesame honey chicken
  8. Thank you, ma'am! The salad was really, really good and the dessert was seriously easy to make. I stretched it out over 3 days, so not so time consuming. Good on Mr. Shelby for coming through with the ribs! That's love! So, tell me how a Wooley Bear caterpillar qualifies to win a dog show? I know, right? I thought it was a bunny rabbit. I meant to ask dcarch--did you make the pastry?
  9. robirdstx I've bookmarked the recipe you posted. It sounds really good and comforting. thirtyoneknots Key lime pie. YUM. dcarchAs usual, stunning presentation and food. Kim You kicked butt, girl! Isn't it fun to be able to spend all day in the kitchen and not have to worry about work??? I love it. I have to make that salad. AND that dessert. Except I want you to make me the dessert. pastameshugana You had me at the runny egg. RIBS! Mr. Shelby came home at 1 with RIBS! I can't believe I forgot to take pictures...they were so good. I even nibbled on one this morning for breakfast and that's not like me. Along with we had brussels sprouts in a creamy bleu cheese sauce--really good, roasted baby potatoes and buttermilk biscuits. And, chocolate chip peanut butter cookies for dessert. All while watching the dog show .
  10. Kim  Diet Dew up the nose laugh!! OMG I'm thrilled that they turned out so well! How cute!! Thank you for the pictures.
  11. Adorable! If I have any energy left after dinner tonight, I'm going to make those for Mr. Kim's breakfast! DO! Let me know how it turns out. So, get this. When we opened the ribs a couple of days ago, I was like "UGH they STINK!" BUT, I do that with chicken, too. And, my husband knows this. He thought they smelled bad, too, but after rinsing.......well, they still smelled bad to me, but I'm weird. Long story short, after smelling them after the brining...UGH they are ROTTEN. So, no ribs for us unless Mr. Shelby can leave work early tomorrow (which will never happen). I'm at a loss for dinner, now. Sigh. Back to the drawing board.
  12. I wanted to try this today, but I couldn't find any rubber bands. http://www.annathered.com/2010/09/29/how-to-make-a-heart-shaped-egg/
  13. Wow. Just wow. Your meal is AMAZING. Thanks for bumping this thread. I forget about it every year. I really enjoy reading through all of the older posts. YUM. I hope my sweetie remembers the champagne....... Ohhhh the shrimp and love potion salad --I may have to copy. Except I don't have any lettuce Ohhhh and the lobster. Sounds so good. Sometimes I wish we could just pop into a neat place like you're going to. I hope you have a great time I've been looking online for days and just have not been inspired for V. day. I wanted to make a fantabulous dessert of some kind, but I either don't have all of the ingredients, or I'm too lazy lol. We've been craving pork ribs, so, they've been brining for 2 days in Morton's Quick and Tender. It's a snowy, blizzardy day, but Mr. Shelby is going to smoke them and then I'll reheat them in Curley's BBQ sauce tomorrow night. Oh, I know, ribs are not very romantic....but we've been married for 12 years and I don't care if he sees me with BBQ sauce all over my face. I'll post more when I figure out what else I'm making.
  14. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MRS. SHEEPISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really enjoyed tagging along this week.
  15. Having tasted tequila for the first time ever two weeks ago, and still working through that same bottle I think it's safe to say I have no idea. I didn't even know there were kinds of tequila. I can appreciate there are different qualities. I need to do more research! I don't know anything about tequila, either, so we're in the same boat
  16. Ooooooh, I'm so going to try your ginger beer drink. I have some of those languishing in my cabinet. Do you like a particular kind of tequila?
  17. Ohhhhh you live in such a beautiful place! Thanks in advance for sharing your life this week . I've butchered a hog or two in my lifetime. Boy did they stink--had to wash them off.
  18. I own the DVD AND I bought the cookbook. I watch this about once a year. LOVE it.
