  1. You're a brave woman. I haven't broken the news yet to Ronnie.

    Dinner 2020

@Kim Shook I love lasagna soup. Need to make that soon. I like to use campanelle pasta--a little easier to eat but yet still curly edges like lasagna noodles Lemon roasted chicken quarters done in the CSO with potatoes roasted under the chicken. Asparagus gratin to go with.
  3. I put the seeds straight in the ground. Quite a few of them didn't sprout....the seeds are so dang tiny they are hard to plant. I think I got some of them too deep in the dirt.

    Dinner 2020

Asian Sticky Wings, drunken noodles and Pak Choi from the garden!
  5. It doesn't take much to get me excited--especially now during this time. I bought a new (to me) seed this year Pak Choi . I love this stuff. We can get it at the Asian Market. I didn't think it would grow but it did! It's super fast growing. I wish I had planted more. I think we have one more meal out in the garden still. I bought more seeds today, but I think it might be too hot to plant them over the summer. Maybe I'll try in the fall? Also some peonies and asparagus in there

    Dinner 2020

@Kim Shook I've been meaning to answer your goulash question for days now and then the thought flies right out of my head. I kind of just throw things together. Onions and garlic cooked down until soft. I've taken to buying jars of roasted red peppers so I chunk some of those up. Tomato sauce from my canned tomatoes whizzed in the food processor. Some kind of beef bouillon--either the cubes or those little tubs. A few splashes of worcestershire sauce (don't leave that out, it's a must). Salt/pepper/hungarian paprika . Cooked macaroni. It really hits the spot when I'm craving it. If I have any leftover veggies such as green beans or corn, I throw that in too.
  7. I am hopefully (knock on wood) done with having to leave the house for at least a week. I hate leaving the house sigh. Went to two different smaller towns around around me this morning. One was to go to the nursery. It is about 50 degrees and pouring rain again today so I figured I'd be the only one there. I was right. But, they had barely any thing for sale. Mostly flowers to plant. Some tomato plants (which I didn't need). I was able to snag 3 eggplants, 2 dill, 2 basil. All the plants are tiny so I'll let them get a little bigger in our greenhouse before planting. They had no cucumbers so I bought another pack of seeds (we have the worst luck trying to start cuke plants in the greenhouse...no idea why, but we will try again). I also splurged on a treat--a hanging basket of really pretty, bright flowers to hang outside my kitchen window. Makes me happy looking at it. Needed something cheery. Then we went to the grocery store in a different small town because I needed to pick up one of Ronnie's prescriptions. While I'm there, I always grab some groceries. Not too many people in the store. Most had some type of homemade mask on, including me. I brought my own wipes for my hands and the cart. Very low on eggs. I bought the last brick of sharp cheddar. You were limited to 2 meat products so for example you could buy one whole chicken (of which they had a total of 3) and a package of hamburger and that's it. I snagged a pack of 3 chicken quarters (left the remaining for someone else) and 1 whole chicken. No paper towels, I didn't see any TP. No 409 or clorox anything. Ramen noodles were back in stock. Fresh produce looked good. Just got a lot of potatoes in so I bought a bag of those. Oh and they had limes....kind of sad looking, but I bought some anyway. I feel a nap coming on.

    Dinner 2020

Cold and rainy day yesterday...actually for two days now. Ham and beans. RG beans. Half country ham, half regular ham I was going to make cornbread, but I was too tired....lazy...whatever.
  9. 😳 Wow. I am totally craving sushi...but not that much lol.
  10. Yes---I had enough left over to make a cinnamon/sugar dough thing that my grammy used to make with leftover pie crust. I made a smaller pie--didn't have a lot of strawberries or rhubarb. If I was doing a normal size I'd double the recipe. Might be some left over..... or maybe 1 and half times the recipe. Also, I didn't have canola oil so I used veg. oil.

    Lunch 2020

Ohhhhh @Kim Shook I love corn nuts. Adding that to the must have column on the pandemic shopping list.
  12. It's going to sound strange....the recipe called it strawberry rhubarb cobbler, but the picture looked just like pie crust to me. And ...it's just like pie crust only it's the weirdest recipe I've ever seen for that. Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 2/3 cup canola oil 1/3 cup warm water I put the dry ingredients in the bowl first, stirred, and then poured the wet in and stirred. It's a soft dough. I put it between 2 pieces of parchment and rolled it out. Felt just like good pie crust to me. Turned the parchment over on top of my pie plate (I didn't do a bottom crust because I think with rhubarb it gets too mushy) and baked for 40 mins at 425 on convection setting in CSO. I ALWAYS struggle with the kind of recipes that tell you to cut the butter into the flour.
  13. Yes! Smithy has posted my saga . That cleaning worked wonders. I highly recommend it. Edited to say: I can't believe that's only been a year ago. Seems like a decade ago with all that's happened in the world.

    Dinner 2020

    Venison goulash and salad
  15. Ok, everyone. Might want to sit down for this one. I made pie crust from scratch and for the first time ever it didn't suck. Will I be able to make that magic happen ever again? Prolly not. 🤣 Strawberry rhubarb pi (rhubarb from my Mom--she picks it for me and brings frozen when she visits )
  16. My IP's slow cooker temp runs hot. I use the med. setting when slow cooking. However, I always pressure cook my corned beef. Make sure the whole roast is submerged in water and I do mine for 90 mins. We like ours fall apart tender.

    Dinner 2020

Ham, asparagus and raclette cheese wrapped in puff pastry with a poached egg--also some runny hollandaise sauce (I think I didn't get the butter heated up enough). And a tomato salad.
  18. LOL! I feel blessed that we got them, though. A little peace of mind knowing they last a while in the pantry. For me, at least
  19. Got my bean club box just now! Very exciting. So glad to get them. I know RG is overwhelmed with orders and doing the best they can I need ideas on using the Black Caviar Lentils. Haven't googled yet but if you guys have thoughts I'd love to hear them.

    Dinner 2020

@liamsaunt I also had to look up malfatti. Looks like something I'd really like....I'd have to add some sort of meat with it to make Ronnie happy. Maybe some Italian sausage? @Kim Shook Even though the salad isn't Caesar, it still looks really good. I'm hungry for a good salad. Venison meatloaf last night
