I am glad it turned out well and I'm also glad you documented it. I look at this thread all the time for guidance.

Completely agree. I wrote back and thanked them. I got a response just now telling me to take as long as I wanted to think, the 30% discount will be available at any time so that's really nice.
-
I got another response. Ninja offered me 30% off on a new multi cooker or air fryer. I'd have to order directly from their site and they don't offer the 10-1 airfryer/ multi cooker that I would order if they had it. I don't want just a plain air fryer (that function still works so far on my Ninja) and I don't need another multi cooker to go with my 3 IP's lol. So, I guess I'll politely decline.

OH you're right. Math is not my forte 🤣

Also, by posting here I was able to narrow down the date when I got the Ninja from Ronnie. My Ninja is 10 years old. 😳 Lol bet they are like "girl, go buy a new one you idiot" 🤣

Ninja has already contacted me. Sent me through another troubleshooting exercise and then asked for pictures of my Ninja and of the serial number. Time for a glass of wine.

A while back I did a brisket that Ronnie had cold smoked ( 4 hours at 150F )--I SV'd it for 24hrs at 155F. Dry dry dry (the first time I did it this way it was excellent). We decided this brisket must have been way more lean. Anyway I did one for dinner last night (3.11 lbs and pretty lean). 155F for 16 hours. Perfect.

Welp. My Ninja has failed me. I honestly haven't even used it that much. I drug it out recently and was really liking the non-stick pot better than the ones in my IP's. Anyway, last night I was going to cook some bacon, sauté some onions and then pressure cook that with some green beans. Pushed the sauté button and it said VENT. I didn't have time to mess with it (I was immersed in my Broncos game) so I tried to figure it out this morning. ChatGPT walked me through all the trouble shooting tips. I cleaned a sensor, cleaned the magnet sensor, did all the unplug etc. Still stuck on VENT. So Chat said that the lid sensor has failed on CLOSED and that means the unit permanently thinks the pressure lid is present so it will never allow me to sauté again, I can only air fry and pressure cook. Apparently it's a very common thing to have happen to this model of Ninja. So. There are much worse things to have fail. I did send an email to Ninja describing everything. We will see if they get back to me--I'm sure it's not under warranty anymore so I'm really not sure why I took the time to write them. I guess I wanted to vent. Get it? VENT haha. Sigh.

I didn't know all of this! I definitely always think of the Cajun version because I didn't know other versions existed! I learn something here every day . According to Google a lot of the Amish that live there have roots from the Swiss Mennonites? I know they speak Pennsylvania Dutch. So I'm sure you're right! And thank you for enlightening me me

We went to lunch the other day at an Amish restaurant in a town not too far away from us. After lunch we stopped at the Amish meat market. It's a really great place -- they raise and make and sell all kinds of meats, sausages, bierocks etc. I was grabbing some German sausages when I noticed they had boudin! I was very interested to try Amish boudin so I bought a package thinking that if it was really good I'd go back and get more for my mom and stepdad (stepdad is Cajun). The other night we had breakfast for dinner so we could try it out. I think they have a very different idea about what boudin is...or the package was mislabeled lol. These were pork...so pork was the first ingredient listed, rice was second. The white dots might have been rice but....I feel like no rice was harmed in the making of this "boudin" lol. It tasted really good, but it was more like a spicier German sausage 🤣. Anyway, now I know what Amish boudin is. Ronnie's birthday was Wednesday. He requested fried gizzards and livers and a nice salad. I also made a small chocolate sheet cake --that's his favorite. \\ Last night I made beef short ribs in the IP. I got them from Misfits. Kinda pricey but I needed something fun and different to make. Mashed cauliflower potatoes and collards to go with

Yay for Instacart! I wish we had that around here sometimes. Everything looks delicious--as usual! Especially that dressing. I want. PS--the non-bolding of the cornbread dressing would have made me bat-s*** crazy. You're a saint to have not said anything 🤣 Cornbread Dressing I had to bold it to make myself feel better.

Salad (sigh) and SV'd lamb chops Italian stuffed peppers and cooked to death green beans SO tired of making the same things so I did Drunken Noodles with shrimp (noodles were shirataki) and a cucumber carrot salad with a lime juice/honey/rice vinegar/sesame oil/chili pepper dressing. Had to go out to eat for lunch and took home some uneaten fried mushrooms--reheated them in the air fryer and I was really impressed. Ronnie liked them better than the first go around because they were nice a crisp. Air fryer is probably getting a permanent place on my ever dwindling counter space. Deviled eggs, shrimp scampi and SV'd steaks also

I'd do the beans, too. They're easy and when you doctor them up like you do they're excellent.

@TdeVSeveral years ago I was looking for ideas for meals/foods that I could freeze in portions to take to my Grandpa. This thread may be helpful to you? Edited to say: A tip that @Jaymesgave on that same thread was really helpful. Freezing in containers is good BUT there is the added chore of washing and putting away said containers. If you can freeze meals in ziplocks you can just trash the bags when you're done. Granted, not everything can be frozen in those but it's an idea to think about. Here is the post where she discussed more in detail what she did for her father.
