  1. God, I loved Bugles. They're not available over here, but I loved them so much, that I remember eating them on a Holiday to Florida, when I was about 6 years old! There was a Pond full of Koi Carp nearby and I remember telling my Mum that "these are so good, I'm going to let the fish try them" - And they loved them too. I think that pack of Bugles was extra special, because they had a promotional thing going on at the time and I found a prize voucher inside for $50. At 6 years old, that was mind-blowing stuff.
  2. I'm back at home for the Summer, so nt able to get to the Cheese shop regularly. I'll have to order from their site. The Cheese Society Last Saturday however, I did go to a Farmers Market in Driffield, about 45minutes from where I live and I got some Welsh Cheddar style cheese, laced with Whiskey. It's one of the few flavoured cheese I actually like. It smells rich and sweet, like a Christmas pudding, and tastes just as good. Snowdonia Cheese Company
  3. I was just in the kitchen, cutting up a banana and a bloody great big spider ran across my foot. I went all "Caveman" and suddenly had the urge to go beserk and kill it beyond recognition. Snack-wise, I did end up with a banana and some yoghurt.

    Dinner! 2007

Tracey - I can't sing the praises of natural light loud enough. It makes your lamb look even more delicious, you just can't get that with artificial lights.
  5. Well, my initial thought was to go for something like 'Manchego', that's made with Ewe's milk and has that subtle, nutty flavour that Gruyere/emmentaler have. Maybe harder to get hold of in the US, but there's also: Swaledale Goat - A very flavoursome Goat's cheese, which would be nice in a Fondue. Berkswell - Ewe's milk again. One of my favourites, it's firm, so would go easily into a fondue and it's flavour is sweet, nutty, almost like caramel. Enjoy!

Smart chicken? Is this a chicken that knew what was coming and so out of the goodness of it's heart, knowingly made itself more delicious?
  7. I love the idea of moulding it in a mini Bundt cake mould. It's really cool, I'd be more than happy with that if I were this friend.

Also, Kim - It may be a bit too dark (if your camera is a DSLR), so try turning up the ISO, or using flash. If it's a compact, then what blether said - Just move back a little bit.
  9. That site is great. My favourites have to be: "Rice and Cheese Casserole. Ingredients: Cheese. And rice." and "...with the awesome flavor power of cubed white bread."
  10. I'm eating slices of apple, with the THICKEST Tahini you can imagine. It fought me all the way, I had to drag it, kicking and screaming from the jar.

    Dinner! 2007

I bought a little individual Trifle earlier and I picked it up tonight off of the kitchen counter and I must have grabbed it off centre, because it flipped itself over and landed cream-side down on the top. I never thought I'd swear blind at a Trifle, but there you go.
  12. evongvisith: Perhaps they were just fully emersing themselves in the Halloween spirit?
  13. Awesome cake. I always used to get told off by my Mum whenever cake like that was around, because I always used to stroke the top. It's so smooth!

God that looks good, Prawncrackers. The rice looks perfect too. There's something missing if it doesn't have the peas too.
  15. Stunning cake, khilde, really skillfully done. I'm sure my Mum's living room looked like that at some point.
  16. Mexican Coke? Is this the supposedly superior one, made with real corn syrup?
  17. Pah, regular Cupcakes or not, not many of us can say we have a degree in Medicine, jumanggy. Congratulations!
  18. Can you imagine the reaction, if that were brought out and you let out an involuntary "Eeeeeeww!" Not a meal per-se, but one of the worst things I've been given at someone's house, was when I was about 13. I was at a friend's house and his mother brought us some plain, salted crackers. "right then" I thought, I'll wait for whatever is coming with them...Nothing came. A bit later, she asked if we wanted some crisps (chips) "Yeah, go for it" I thought She brought a big bag of plain, salted chips... I asked for something to spread on my crackers and I was told "No, they're fine as is" Um...No, they're not fucking fine as is.
  19. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite threads! Have you ever threatened your wife with that, Kent D? "Leave it alone! I'm serious, I will Chicken Drywall your ass!"

  21. How about some Pea Pesto? Not something I've tried yet, but it's the first thing that came to mind.

Thanks, David. It's a five-spice sugar I got last Christmas. I use it quite often for lamb. It's just brown sugar with added spices: Cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, star anise & ginger. Speaking of your beef, I saw a great video demonstration a while ago on smoking a brisket. It just collapsed afterwards it was that tender.

    Dinner! 2007

Awesome looking beef, David. I hope they're not getting tired of it, because if they are, they're going to hate mine! Tonight I roasted a Leg of Lamb with spiced brown sugar, red onions and garlic. Then for dessert, I made honey & orange mousse.
