  1. I have had Ama, a modern Tex-Mex cookbook on my Amazon wish list since the day I heard about it.

    Lunch 2019

I always used to say that I would rather give birth to another baby than go to the dentist. That would, by now, make me the mother of multitudes. Hang in there Shelby, this too shall pass and lots of wonderful meals are just waiting for you to fix them. Knowing you, I'll bet your freezer is well stocked for a situation just like this.
  3. Chainsaw, nah that's for wimps...go straight for the jack hammer

    Dinner 2019

Just look at those little pepperoni cups glistening with tasty grease! Makes me want to drive into one. Fresh mushrooms here as well.
  5. In Mazatlan, we often watched as the gardeners opened whole coconuts with their machetes. Would the same thing word on the squash?

    Breakfast 2019

You know, if angels dropped down from Heaven and cooked me the best breakfast of my life, I would only be happy until I saw what Moe got. His is always better than mine.
  7. As a snot nosed kid, my favorite house for Halloween loot offered a huge bowl of pennies. You were allowed to plunge one hand in to it and everything you could grab was yours. I was kind of a puny kid and had a small hand but every year I thought I might capture enough for a bike or something as amazing. In reality, I was damn lucky to grab more than a quarter's worth of coppers. But, maybe next year. I dreamed.
  8. And when you finish it, are you rewarded with a chocolate Arc de Triomphe? That is classy snacking!
  9. From the top down or the bottom up? Was it life sized?
  10. Love seeing new faces and places. But just like here, almost everyone is glued to their damn phones. We were out to lunch Wednesday and we were the only people in the restaurant not staring at a phone. And that included the server when not doing his serving job! And we joke around here that a day without garlic and or onions is not an official day. Have a wonderful friend who grows garlic and is wonderful about sharing it.
  11. Yeah, Shelby good thought. Kinda like hanging strings of garlic up to keep away vampires!😉
  12. LOL, Squiggles, and tweezer plated food have no more business in a real Mexican place than kale does. And I just noticed that the word "restaurant" ends in rant! So, I'll cool it for now!
  13. No boos from me. I also make casseroles at times. Had my first relleno at the huge central Mexican market in Los Angeles and I was hooked for life. I grew up surrounded by Mexican restaurants but never got out of my combo plate rut until I was married. When we landed here, no local stores even carried tortillas let alone fresh chilies. The place has since caught up with the times and we even have a not too terrible Mexican restaurant with not too terrible rellanos on the menu. And the nearest "big town" has two Mexican grocery stores. Life is good and getting better all the time.
  14. Chile rellenos are on my menu for my last meal. Now if they come stuffed with kale, I reserve the right to refuse to die with those in my belly.
  15. Saw the first wagon loads of combined corn go by yesterday. No bean activity so far. I so agree about the prices but am very worried about them! The line at the elevator is going to be long in a few days if the weather holds. I agree about the politics....a mess for sure.
  16. What an enchanting place that is! All it needs is a "pick your own avocados" at the end.

    Breakfast 2019

Oh fun, a one woman, three kitten pajama party! I wanna play too.
  18. Loved being able to "share" the journey. What's next on your travel agenda?

    Lunch 2019

I would be delighted to eat the other shoe. That looks awesome!
  20. I like having the international items in their own spaces. My husband tends to wander off when he gets bored in the store. I know I can ALWAYS go right to the international aisle and find him engrossed in reading labels. He is like a foodie homing pigeon when it comes to foreign foods. He's never met a salsa label he didn't want to read! If the store mixes that stuff in with the other stuff, it may take a search and rescue team to find him. I'd probably have to bell him like a cat if that day ever comes.
  21. Have to ask...any connection to the annual Sheriff's Rodeo held there for many years?
  22. In my mind, I can hear Alton Brown muttering "multi-tasking sir, multi-tasking" while shaking his finger at you. I, on the other hand, say "go for it."
  23. Nope, we have CWD here as well. BTD is caused by a midge. Usually the deer is dead three or so days after the bite. They say the meat is safe to eat but.......not sure I would. Also spreads to goat and sheep easily and cattle as well. Very scary. Had a beautiful buck die at the edge of the southern end of the pond from CWD several years. I so agree, it is horrifying..
  24. Shelby, a tad off topic but are the deer in your area suffering from Blue Tongue Disease? It is a disaster around here. A friend was creek walking, looking for arrowheads recently and found eight dead deer. Just sickening..... As usual, I'm loving your hunting blog and seeing Chum.
