    Lunch 2020

We have found that many Mexican places have hot sauces which they call. "Not for Gringos" which they will bring to the table when asked. But beware, they will all hover around to watch your reaction to the first taste of them.

    Lunch 2020

And Pacifico Beer to top it all off. To me it runs a close second to Dos XXs. If you hop over to the mainland from the tip of Baja, you will be in Mazatlan, home of Pacifico. For more adventure take the ferry across instead of flying. Mazatlan is know as the Shrimp Capital of Mexico. Shrimp and beer on the beach? Life doesn't get much better than that for me.
  3. Wow, I think of all your trips, the meals on this one made me the hungriest! Thanks for the almost constant tummy growling!
  4. I'll let you in on a secret if you promise not to tell a soul....We live about 25 miles from a John Deere factory and there are always rumors coming from the plant about new equipment. A sheep harvester is the latest. You've heard of the expression "like a sheep to slaughter" I'm sure. Well JD has trained farmers in the art of sheep whispering. The best ones are able to train their sheep to line up in perfect order. Next the top secret, experimental sheep harvester goes down the line plucking up the sheep and rolling them into large bales that resemble hay, only with more fluff. The bales of sheep are loaded on to semis and taken to the nearest processing plant. At this point it is out of JD's hands but I do know the packing plant employees that count the sheep bales as they come off the semi have a terrible time staying awake to do their jobsl
  5. Yup, being able to turn on the beeper and also the turntable were huge selling point when we bought our G.E. Have had to replace the light bulb but, other than that, it has been a real trooper. My first microwave was an Amana Radar Range. Those huge shiny things that weigh as much as a small elephant. I'd bet money that there are still some of them working away out there. Kind of like the DC 3s of microwaves.
  6. I suspect my husband has a secret crush on her and I completely understand why.
  7. Oooh I wish I could "like" each picture by itself. Just an amazing bunch of goodies and your village is wonderful. I love the wee little church especially.
  8. "Lettuce" hope a sudden wind doesn't come up or there may be a tossed salad! I know, it is cabbage but I couldn't help myself.
  9. I was thinking along the lines of "Justify Brownies". That means I can and will justify any means I may take in order to grab some of them!
  10. I think that only works if they are blind. 😉. Another vote for snap traps.
  11. We call that stuff "shaka-shaka" cheese here.
  12. We were buying oil sunflower seeds at our nearby Mennonite Store this morning. I took the time to wander around looking for deals. Seems like there is almost always something amazing to find. And so there was again today. They were selling 1 1/2 pound packages of Hickory smoked , thick sliced Wrights bacon for $2.49 each.....no limit. And nope, it has not expired yet either. I grabbed four packages. This is a fun store and if you are a quilter, you will be ga-ga over the fabric selection. It is called Dutchman and is in Cantril Iowa if you want to Google it. Often I am one of the few non Amish shoppers.
  13. Yup, we were shopping in our Hy-Vee market and had to dodge a pile of boxes filled with Valentine stuff ready to put on display. Is it okay to say Bah Humbug for this or only for Christmas? Maybe Bah Cupid will cover it? I think the local Amish scratch and dent still has leftover candy from last Valentine's Day. Nothing says 'Forever" like a ancient Hersey's Kiss
  14. Ooooh, you stirred up a wonderful memory of going to the See's candy store with my nana. The lady behind the counter held the empty box and we got to pick exactly what she put in it. I just checked prices on Amazon and I will be living with my memories not the real thing until I win the lottery.
  15. I have the impulse to poke one into an oyster and twist. 😏 And that tells you that I have never shucked an oyster in my life.

    Breakfast 2019

    "Cross-Ants"...aka Angry Bugs?
  17. Is that the Time-Life cookbook on Germany I see? I have the entire series but still can't resist buying copies when I find them for sale. I really need to find new homes for them.

    Breakfast 2019

I had thought that maybe three of us could get together, call ourselves Eeney, Meeny, Minny and join Moe. I'm sure we would fit in that way.
  19. Have a large container of it right next to the stove and it gets used. It seems to have a natural affinity towards eggs and potatoes. And, yes, it was a part of my childhood too. My mother was a pretty bad cook so a sprinkle of it could only improve things. Who know, maybe my kids feel the same way about my cooking? Sprinkle onward my friends.
  20. That's just what I thought! Ham for the Holidays
  21. I agree, she is amazing. She has posted lots and lots of videos and on many subjects besides food. If you read the comments you will see that she has fans all over the world. I have recently noticed several "wanna-bes" showing up but she is the real deal. At the opposite end of the spectrum, I enjoy watching the elderly Mexican lady cooking at her ranch. Not elegant, but as real as they get! Thanks for sharing the video.

The food is beautiful but the board is just stunning. Together they are amazing .
  23. Just keep that hungry rock away from your Chia Pet!
  24. What am I doing? Simple-coming to your house!

    Breakfast 2019

Real breakfast food for Mo for breakfast.....what's the world coming to? You have trained me to expect to see steak, ribs or something more exotic! But I'd still be happy to sit at your table for breakfast any time of day!
