Making Korean Food at Home
Ninjai Fanatic replied to a topic in Elsewhere in Asia/Pacific: Cooking & Baking
Beautiful thread! :) thanks for those helpful links up there. I love Korean food and know how to cook just bibimbap chapchay(sp), kimchi, and some of the appetizers like the sweetened potatoes, spinach, etc.. and often like to cook this at home as well.. but of course, being vegetarian- I only know how to do the veggie dishes. -
I was just given this beautiful pasta maker for my birthday a few months ago, and I've been making a lot of pastas - but don't really like the doughs I've been making except for the lasagne one.. Does anyone have any eggless recipes for pasta dough that they'd like to share? Thanks very much!

your most comfortable place to eat is?
Ninjai Fanatic replied to a topic in Food Traditions & Culture
in the kitchen.. well, that's where our dining table (just for family and close friends) has always been anyway.. it's the safest, nicest place to be, really. And it's even better when there's someone I love around to eat with. :) -
we had pancit and kare kare for lunch. :)

it's used - but as the others have said, not as much as in the Vietnamese and Indian cuisines. btw, did you know that Cilantro helps rid the body/blood of the toxic heavy metals that you may have ingested such as lead/mercury?

A good friend of mine has been raving about some Indian sweet and sour dishes that she had while she was in India, but I can't find any recipes of the sort and her not being a 'food fanatic', didn't ask the names of the dishes either. Can anyone help me please? Thanks very much! :)

my favorite sweet crepe filling is mangoes, cream, a little honey, and corn flakes. Blueberries and yogurt is good as well- or apples cooked with caramel and walnuts.. as for the non-sweet fillings, I really like couscous or kimchi with peanut butter. :)

mangoes, fuji apples and yogurt. yummy, I LOVE summer because of these yellow mangoes. Delicious! -
grilled cheese.. i have 2 favorite versions: just plain cheese, pizza seasoning, and tomatoes -drowed in butter or mozzerella plus a bit of parmesan, button mushrooms. .as for the bread- any soft bread'll do, but I prefer potato/plain white bread

Congratulations! :) haha.. I just read this whole thread. All the labor stories are interesting.. I'll get there too.. maybe, in a dozen years orso

I'm such a butter freak that I even eat butter plain- but.. ice cream would be pretty gross with chunks of butter.. :/ that's all I can think of now.

when we camp we usually cook with and in the bamboo trunk/leaves (i live in the tropics)- yummy stuff, doesn't get too smoky, and there's less to carry during the treks that way. Otherwise- for our little picnics and stuff- we just cook at home and bring our paper plates/pots, spoons, forks and the works with us.

peanut butter with olives, or peanut butter and kimchi. Yummy stuff. :)
