Looking over all the great threads we have going on in this forum, and being in a reflective , thankful holiday kind of mood it made me think that we have an awful lot to be thankful for in terms of all things food related here in Philly and the surrounding areas. (That includes Delaware! :) )

Things I'm thankful for:

Reading Terminal Market

Italian Market

Dmitri's (one of my favorite restaurants anywhere)

The fact that Philly is a short drive from Wilmington

Jersey tomatoes--the big, misshapen, delicious ripe ones.

Lancaster County farmers.

DiBruno Brothers.

The Reading Terminal Market and 9th Street.

That I can get a little exercise in by walking to the South Philly Acme.

The convenience store up the street from where I live.

Having found this congenial bunch of food lovers.

I am thankful for everything that's already been said. I'm certain others will add more that I'll agree with as well.

I'm thankful to live in a city with such a bounty of wonderful food at all levels and of all ethnicities.

I'm thankful to work in that industry I love, in a city I love so much.

But mostly, I am thankful that I have such a nice forum to oversee. I believe we really have many of the very best folks at eGullet right here in our little forum. And the fact that I now consider so many of you amongst my nearest and dearest friends in addition to being my regular dining partners had made my life so much richer, more interesting and definitely more amusing! :wub:

I joined this summer, and I really have been enjoying eG!

I am thankful for all of this and more:

Infusion coffee shop in Mount Airy for their wonderfully rich and delicious lattes;

RTM;

the small cheese stand at the Flourtown Farmers' Market;

my foodie friends who love to eat good food and drink good wines;

living in a city that is such an amazing food town;

Moore Brothers;

and much more.

BUT I have to ask: What is the Studio Kitchen??? Is it a place? Or just a way tooorganize get togethers??

Thankful for? :rolleyes: That's (Big) easy! That I will one day be able to visit New Orleans again and experience the best food ever! :wink: and say aloud those famous words: Laissez les bontemps roulez!

Tamales (it's that time of year).

Tortilla soup (also that time of year).

Local peaches, pecans, strawberries, et al.

Tres leches cake.

And many, many more amazing things that have become part of my regular life since moving to this edge the country. I wasn't born in Texas, but clearly I should have been. My soul is Southern, y'all!

And, of course, the wonderfully supportive community here at eGullet, from whom I learn something every single day.
