Um....Capilano West, just down the street from you. It used to be the best Chinese on the North Shore. There is also a location at the top of Cap Road and Montroyal (the one we used to order from)

**Edited to add that I haven't actually had their food in roughly 5 years.

Do not post when you've only had wine and no food. Third edit

Thanks Peppyre.

It's my "local" and I was just so damn lazy and tired (setting up baby room), I didn't want to deal with takeout...I wanted delivery. Ended up just hobbling down with my son and feasting.

It's still good.

It doesn't exist   ...at least not that I have found. The search shall continue...

Same same!

Take-out on the Shore is a handful of places that you wouldn't normally eat at (even if you had the time).

Get friendly with Hans at Thai Pudpongs and see if he will take your CC number and add the taxi delivery fare to the total bill?

Capilano is good, live, but if you get take out, by the time it arrives you often get a puddle of grease on the bottom.

Great noodles though!

Email Deana and ask for her recommendations (that's your best bet).

We used to order from a Chinese place called Sai Kor owned by a Japanese couple on Lonsdale.

The food was excellent, cheap and fast delivery.

Then it changed ownership and the battle on the phone to order with someone who speaks very little English was just way too hard.

Not to mention the three follow up calls and hour and a half later asking us again for the address.

We tried three times after it changed ownership, but gave up.

Take out...(sorry Andrew, you'll have to get out of your PJ's and make a quick drive).

Hamaei at Westview...good quality sushi, take out or eat in.

Vina Vietnamese... and the best food of the chain...lovely hosts too.

Thai Pudpons...Yum! The chef makes excellent Thai sauces...try and order the daily specials...including the stuffed chicken wings...you'll never eat those crappy wings at pubs again.

We're waiting in anticipation, that someone will add some outstanding info to this thread and change the dire tone of our post and take-out.

Try C-Wok in North Vancouver.

Pemberton and Marine (I believe).

It is has pretty decent Szechuan takeout/delivery.

(Usually under 45 minutes)

Mongolian beef is a fav of ours there.

(although it use to be even better under the last chef)

Red Chili is another that we use in West Vancouver.

Small family runned operation on Marine & 15th.

My wife loves the soya duck & the double cooked pork.

Use to order from the Chinese place on Westview.

(same complex as the Safeway & Esso station)

Use to have decent dim-sum (if one didn't want to

travel across the bridge).

They have since changed owners a couple of times.

Anyone tried it recently?

Best,

Wen

Anyone know anything about the guy that used to write that column about delivering Chinese in West Van that ran in Vanmag. Jamie? He was worth the cover price alone, assuming you don't live in a tony demographic that gets it for free.

I have to agree with C-Wok. It's pretty authentic and the people who run it are nice. They have stuff on the daily menu that doesn't appear on the take-out menu, so you can ask them what the daily special is and sometimes get some interesting surprises. Cheap too.

You are thinking of Jordon Robinson and his column Chop Chop. Looks like this ended some time in 2000 though, as he then wrote about clubs for a while and in 2001 wrote a column called Mr. Robinson's Neighbourhood.

It was definitely entertaining reading.... not sure what happened after 2001, but no doubt Jamie can provide further details.

Always take a good look at what you're about to eat. It's not so important to know what it is, but it's critical to know what it was. --Unknown

Does anyone know a good, reliable Chinese food restaurant on the North Shore that delivers to the Ambleside area of West Van? We used to order from C-Wok, but it's been closed for almost a year and we haven't found a good replacement yet.

Have you tried Westview Chinese in North Van.

Their take out menu is ridiculously huge and based upon the items on offer, their is someone very knowledgable in the kitchen. I've done a pick up once or twice - and have been generally happy. Nice solid neighbourhood place - a little higher than C-Wok on the sophistication scale. Cantonese focused menu.
