Triumph!! NOBODY guessed the pickle ornament was mine!

I've decided that I will play the game with my kids on Christmas Day -- the only problem is what to give as the prize.  Any suggestions?  There will be my 2 boys (23 & 25), a girlfriend (25), neice & boyfriend (24 each) and nephew (20).

A new tradition.

A jug of good pickles! For lots of luck in the new year!

I just found two more ornaments I forgot about that were new additions last Christmas. One is an angel made of various pasta pieces painted white (the wings are bowties), and the other is a little wooden elf sitting down with a big pie in his lap. And I have one of those glass twisted wrap candies also (purple with white stripes), that JAZ mentioned, but it doesn't hang on the tree it sits in the Christmas candy dish.

One woman very courteously approached me in a grocery store, saying, "Excuse me, but I must ask why you've brought your dog into the store." I told her that Grace is a service dog.... "Excuse me, but you told me that your dog is allowed in the store because she's a service dog. Is she Army or Navy?" Terry Thistlewaite

O' Christmas pickle...

I was the lucky recipiant of a green glass Christmas pickle ornament this year. It was given to me from my best friend Ruth, in honour of our 3rd annual pickling.

The tag on the pickle says this-

"Long ago when parents decorated the tree they hung the pickle ornament last, hiding it in the gree boughs. When the children were allowed to view the tree, they would begin searching for the pickle ornament because they knew they would receive an extra gift for being the most observant."

It hangs in right in the front on my little tree...

Amongst the food ornaments on our tree are these horrid little s'mores people which my mother

in law gave us to match the equally horrid s'more "night lamp". Beautiful garlic, pea pods and

kiwi another gift from a good friend from Smith & Hawken, this really really cool big martini glass

with olive hanging off the side, this year a really wonderful gift of 3 small chile pepper ristras made of glass. The usual beer mug, some grapes. Can't remember what else, we usually have other people decorate the tree and we cook them dinner and re-fill their wine or drinks and appreciate the fruits of their labor which makes it easy to forget what we actually own until we

look at the trees. We have 3 trees, 2 flank the family room and there is always a small 'travel'

tree that has ornaments from places we've been/eaten along with lots of annual Swavorski

cystal snowflake ornaments. Hope everyone has a merry holiday! A hui ho.......
