Unfortunatley, Coop is neither a drag queen nor an angry drunk. I've got suspicions about some other attendees however...fingers crossed.

Do tell. I am planning the seating arrangements this afternoon and am looking for MAXIMUM enjoyment.

Sit back and watch the Drag queens fight over the last short rib. Such fun. Stuff that legends are made from.

Hold up.

Are you saying there's going to be either a shortage of food or drink at this soiree? If things are going to be in such short supply that cross dressers are willing to risk knocking their wig across the room in a skrag fight to determine ownership of ribs?

You're not a host from the Bob Blummer school of (miserly) entertaining that holds as a credo your guests should always want more are you?

And one other thing, Chef N. I hope you have the mechanics of this thing worked so that you are part of the party.

I just went and looked at the menu again, and A) it looks better everytime I see it, and B) how are you doing the entrees without knowing in advance what we want? Did I miss some memo where we needed to specify our selections? My wife will be so pissed with me if I procrastinated on replying to something I needed to and we have to go to Subway down the street to pickup our "entrees".

Posted

All is well , my friend. There will be plenty for all.

We are taking an educated guess as to where the numbers will fall for the entrees. If you do not get what you want because everybody had the same thing..........................sorry man.

Skip lunch.

Arrive hungry.

Have you not eaten here before ?

We do not "do" small food.

And no you can't sub anything, or can I have a half order of this, are there beans in the cassolet, can I have mine without beans, can you make my cioppino without tomatoes, can you saute my cerviche.................

if that happens, you will see two chubby chefs beating up drag queens

Just harrassing you, your repution for generousity proceeds you. I do hope though that someone stands up and loudly declares "THIS FISH IS RAW."

My wife has recently become a born again Vegan though, If we bring our own tofu will you throw it in the cassoulet for her?

(And no one here is so sarcasm unsavvy that they don't get my ham fisted (mmm, ham fists!) attempts at humour, right?)

I can vouch for that! At the Cedar Creek dinner, he told me the same thing (about skipping lunch) and I was glad I did. I started scaling back my meals yesterday.

My advice? Wear sweat pants!

Neil, any word on the Heineken? Or has Chef Fowke been busy getting prepared for his ass-kicking?

I'm going out for late dim sum tommorow. Bad idea?

I'm going to call in sick for the lunch.

Horrendously bad idea Keith. As Neil said, there is no small food or nothing even remotely approximating small food at HSG.

And to hell with fighting over that last short rib. Pity the person who stands in the way of my last morsel of warm gingerbread pudding... it'd get ugly awfully fast. Chef Wyles is well aware of where I'm coming from. :hmmm:

I have two horrible visions of tomorrow night ...

First, Coop, in a black strapless evening dress, fighting off Ling for the last piece of Gingerbread Pudding (you don't stand a chance Dave!) ....

Second, a bunch of food geeks snapping pictures of dinner with their digital cameras hoping for the ultimate food-porn to post on the Dinner thread.

If Ling & Coop can behave, I'm sure the rest of us can.

Besides, Chef Brian & Chef Neil have the photo angle covered. A pictorial of the evenings festivities will be posted on eGullet soon afterwards.

That settles it. I'm wearing sweat pants. Tied casually around my shoulders.

Oh NO! I burnt the scallop ceviche! I guess thats what you get for trusting the big night to 'volunteers' in the kitchen, chefs without a restaurant!

I cannot wait for the night to begin, Neil and I have spent the last 48 hours getting ready, we just parted to grab a few hours sleep and are back at it early in the morning. All looks good in the kitchen! Bring an appetite, arrange a ride home, this is going to be fun!

And what a great charity. The Tequila with the mango/lime/jalepeno oyster shooters should loosen a few pocket books and help us raise some big dollars for the chef's bursary fund.

Post Script: The food will be 'professionally' photographed, do not worry about bringing a camera...we will supply and post. Just come and enjoy great, great company and food.

Ok, so I dropped by Mix, the bakery, this morning on my way to work and they were out of the bread I wanted because they sent 60 loaves down to Elixir. So we know we will have bread (and good bread at that) at the book event.

Cheers,

CityCook,

Bourdain's Book Tour Schedule.

Go down to page 4 for the November dates. You'll notice that after October 27 in NY, his next date is in Seattle ... no mention of Victoria of Vancouver :hmmm: . Of course, after tonight, Mr. Bourdain will make Vancouver a regular stop on any tour he does. :raz::raz::raz:

Mr. Bourdain will be speaking to us minions in Victoria, tomorrow, Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Alex Gooden Hall.

I hope you are not too hard on the man and leave some for us.

Next time, it will be a dinner in Victoria of island produce.

I can hardly wait to read about your exploits over dinner this evening. I know you will all have a wonderful time.

Buon appetit and in Spanish, Buen Provecho!

Thanks, Daddy-o! I would love to do that, but Cinderella has to stay and do last minute prep for her interview with him after his talk here in Victoria.

Wish me luck.
