First, happy New Year everyone ! Has anyone eaten at the Top Notch restaurant in Montclair on Bloomfielf Ave across from the Starbucks? Was going food shopping yesterday and parked in front of the place and glanced at the menu. Spotted a large selection of German dishes. How are they? I love German food but am spoiled by the Black Forest Inn in Stanhope. The Triangle Hofbrau is fun and decent, but nothing for me to write home about. I'd love to hear any comments because this would be great for me in terms of location. Thanks, all.

I have eaten there many times and have enjoyed it a lot. It is usually packed, so make a reservation. Also, it is BYOB. I almost always get Weiner Schnitzel for myself and then share with everyone else. I have never had a bad meal.It is head and shoulders above Triangle Hofbrau. Jeurgen's son opened one in Madison. It is my opinion that the Montclair site is better. Apple Strudel is very good, though one time it was inedible.

I would certainly try it if I were you...

My buddy's family is friends with Jeurgen. I have a feeling he would have heard about it if they did close. I like Top Notch, and wonder why I don't go more often...

related to the others in madison and some other place (edit: i see ant-nee answers that above)? if so, those menus are on ardore.com (and i'm still waiting for someone to tell me what the heck that is). they seem to be a jack-of-all-trades, which is a bit scary i guess.

Also, if you go would you try to get some information on the new Turkish Restaurant that is opening up on the corner. Thanks..
