Time: 1:00pm. Who knows, we may end up meeting into dinner and beyond.

I'll call, since I did before, and had the unpleasant task of saying that we weren't coming after all when they called me to reconfirm (but the reservationist remained so PERKY! )

Happy Birthday to our founder, Elyse.

No, no, that should be HAPPY BURGER to Elyse!! (and a belated HB to her mom).

F&P: no problem. It will be nice to have you back in the fold, I'm sure.

I'm sad. I was thinking of having a Burger Joint burger today, but I'm afraid I'd be too full for Sapphire tonight.

Maybe I'll have one for Christmas.

I'm about a minute late, but Elyse, I hope you had a happy birthday.

Elyse: I figure I was covered because I already wished you a happy birthday in advance, but Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating!

Thanks Rich, Bloviatrix, and Pan! Early, late, on time, it's all the same to me. Well wishes are always welcome.

HWOE suggests that we might change the name to "Dangerous Dining Club," but I told him the Philadelphia crowd already have that patented.

If I were to worry about that, I'd die of starvation. I'm still in.

Same here... crazy parents, insisted on having crown roast of lamb for Xmas dinner instead of prime rib or beef tenderloin...

Was still pretty good though...

I'm really surprised there's so little opinion on this either way. Is it all on the Mad Cow thread?

Posted (edited)

The mad cow thread is worth looking at.

So far, I've avoided any beef for the - what, two days? - since the BSE was discovered in Washington state. I'll wait a while until the situation becomes clearer or I miss stuff like Shanghainese Beef Tendon in Hot Oil too much.

Yeah, I've read it. Posts under 10 paragraphs, that is....

I was wondering specifically about those of us doing the BC thang. I mean should we make our decisions of destination based on freshly chopped meat or anything? Avoid certain places entirely? Damn the torpedos?

By the time I develop symptoms, I won't know whether it's natural, mad cow, or other remnants of my shady past. I say damn the torpedos, full steam ahead.
