Pacific Rim cocktail

While happily drinking at the latest Seattle cocktail party, I realized that the Pacific Rim had somehow slipped by egullet eyes (until Saturday night, that is. It was very popular). Matthew (mamster) wrote an article for the Seattle Times about tamarind, and asked nightscotsman to devise a tamarind-laced cocktail to accompany it. The result is fragrant and delicious.

I was lucky enough to taste this wonderful concoction at the party Saturday night. It was absolutely fabulous! Everyone should try it................

Nightscotsman,

Do you think you could use the Goya Tamarind Juice Drink for this. I think it's about 40% juice and quite sweet.

I'm sure that would work fine. The ingredients on the Sari Asam box list: tamarind, palm sugar, cane sugar, and water. It is quite sweet.

That does sound lovely. I often get quite excited about using other fruits as the basis for a nice drink, like the tamarind. Particularly all of those beautiful exotic tropical ones.

Hey - I'm immortal! Thanks Marlene.

De nada  Got any more? The cocktail section of the Archive is seriously underpopulated

Practice. Do it over. Get it right.

Mostly, I want people to be as happy eating my food as I am cooking it.

Not originals, but I suppose the older classic cocktails are all public domain by now, right? I'll put in some of my favorites from the parties when I get a chance.
